Balancing

Okay...I DO(this time, honest) have a serious question here...well,kinda...not actually a problem deal(except my tire guy keeps insisting he put weights on my rims).EVERYtime I go in for a tire replacement,my mech puts weights on there. No big deal, right? And EVERYtime I get it back and start riding....she invariably will have a vibe anywhere from 100 mph on up.And EVERYtime,I stop.Pull the weights off.Get er back out and up to vibe speed...she's perfect...smooth as...well...you know what I mean. And remains perfect all through the mph range.ANYONE ELSE having this problem?I don't want him to think I THINK he's "getting it wrong"...you know, they're just weights,so I stopped telling him(the two times I did) "she doesn't NEED any balancing weights on there".He ALWAYS forgets.Anyone else have apparent "defective"rims?

Funny, sounds a little obvious to me. My opinion is that on the tire their is a "spot" that shows the tire installer where to line up with the tire valve.
Ideally:
1, if you line up the spot with the tire valve
2, if your wheels are true
3, if your tires are fresh
Then from my personal experience, you shouldn't need wheel weights.

just my .02

It has been about the journey, not the destination.

Thanks Ridepastu...it was meant as a bit of dry humor...but yeah,he does line up the paint spot to the valve stem.I've never had to have weights on any of my tire changes.Pirellis were the best ones IMO.Going back to the Stradas again here soon. The rear Pilot Power 2ct...well,nice tire, but not impressed. She's ALREADY at the wear bars...only 2,714 miles. If I didn't know better...I'd think the damn center begins to wear FASTER as the tire gets more miles on it.Supposed to have a dual compound for extended mileage.Pfffft.Not seein it.It does have a nice little touch to it though...it's got actual "wear bars" in the center tread.Very important when yer gettin close to 2800 miles.Pirelli failed to add that little deal...guess at 5,000+ miles, you OUGHT to be able to judge that yer tread's gettin close! That's why they have those steel belts in there, isn't it?Steel belts..wear bars...what the hell...guess each company has their selling feature.

I was also not impressed with the 2ct blue. I wanted to ride really bad, so I sprung for a rear. I would swear it wore faster than the regular pilot powers I usually run. Was not worth the extra money to me at all. Am back on pilot power, and already have about 3k on it, with life left.

And the installer said it was so close on the balancer that he did not have a weight that would work. Most of the time the stick on ones do not stay stuck anyway.
