Tsukigi vs yoshimura 4-1
10/21/09 4:27 PM

I found wicked deals on both a yoshi trc 4-1 and a tsukigi 4-1. I like the looks of the yoshi better but the sound of the tsukigi is gnarly. Now what do you goes know about performance? I appreciate all the info about brock and muzzy but I'm interested in these two specifically. Thanks in advance y'all are on top of your schit!

Sorry mods I just realized I posted both of these in the wrong forum, could you move them to the appropriate one please?

I would say if your looking for power, hands down go with the tsukigi. I've seen many post from people get 175whp SAE, with only the pipe, filter, and tuned. The only problem with a 4-1 is that they hang low, if your lowered then that may be a problem.

I have the yosh trc full system on my bike.
http://www.yoshimura-rd.com/ps-3634-1295-trc-stainlesscarbon-full-system.aspx
I'm running a dynojet map that said it was for the yosh R77 exhaust.
The yosh system weighs about a quarter of the stock system, sounds even better.
It's a totally different machine with the loss of weight.
I bought my system and PC3 from 58cycle. They still have a good deal on the system.

I have the full yosh r77 and it is fairly quiet exhaust and looks great. With power commmander and custom map I went from 169 to 187 hp with power gains through out the entire powerband. Not to mention the weight loss with the full exhaust. IMO all full exhausts will put out the same hp with the right tune plus minus a couple hp. Some are louder, lighter, and more expensive so get the one that matches your priorities better. I like quiet and didnt want any power loss down low so yosh wins for me.

I recently put a yosh full system on my busa, and got great power gains, combined with a big weight loss I could really feel in the handling. I got the yosh because it looked the best imo, and was quiet enough for long trips. Like hoopie said, I think all the full systems are pretty close power wise, just get what fits you best looks and soundwise

Thanks a lot guys! Man it's a tough one, I know this is subjective but what do y'all think of the sound of the tsukigi? I just heard it on a vid, is it too loud or annoying to tour on?

It has a removable quiet baffle. I think it's still pretty loud with the baffle in. I am having a silencer baffle shipped from Japan. You remove the quiet baffle and stick the silencer down into the can and screw on a sepparate end piece. From what I have read in posts, this reduces the loudness a lot.

If you want full bore loud, you can run with no baffle and no end cap. Then you got a hole the size of a softball looking at you.

Replied on your other thread.

It's the canister Tsukigi but that gives us some idea.

I like the flame that shoots out. You may have to watch a couple times. Sometimes it skips that frame at the very end.

Like others have said its personal preference. I believe that all the pipes copy each other and all are about the same hp wise and not too much diff in weight. I've got the Yosh R-77 also. I tried with the silencer in and out. With the silencer in it has better torque all through the range but a little softer on the top compared to no silencer. I put it back in as I didn't like the drone and the top end kick wasn't that much more seat of the pants wise. All the power and handling was way better than stock.

^^I am starting to agree with you on the similarity in performance, kawnow. I checked dyno charts for the umpteenth time last night. What you mostly see is roughly 187 hp peak and 130 hp 6.5K. If there is a comparo, then it depends on who ran the comparo. Obviously a seller isn't going to show a dyno sheet with his product getting beat by the competition, even by 2 hp.

Weight is another issue, however. Everyone has a fairly accurate scale and there is no way to slant the statistics there.

Also, if you are really after big numbers, you will go with a sidewinder. I haven't looked into those because it would be horrible for anything other than straightline riding. Brock's new sidewinder claims over 200 hp. I almost think that would have to be boosted but I don't recall any mention of NOS or turbo on that bike.

Personally I love the look of the tsukigi cannon on the 14....just looks sexy Before I put the turbo on my 14 I was highly considering one, the only thing holding me back was the sound factor. But with the quieter baffles available now sound might not be as big of an issue.

^^We will find out soon. I have a Cannon for both my bikes and optional silencer, too. It is an awesome pipe but it seems a little silly to have the same on both bikes. I'm supposed to be making them different.

I guess i was thinking the cannon is not much more than a lot of slipons so why not go with it. I might never want to switch to something more expensive.

Hey - one thing about weight on pipes -- if you ever slam a header coming out of a wheelie, you would want that pipe to be heavier rather than lighter. A lightweight is probably going to crush like a soda can and drag your engine.

This came with the 750... I'd rather take my shoes off and walk on broken glass than buy another Yoshimura.
Held up in th wreck though- just scuffs:

^^I keep thinking about those featherweight Brocks pipes and I can only guess they are really thin. That's the sacrifice you make. Oh well, do you buy a Brock's to slide or to ride????!

I'm set on getting a Leo Vince for the 750- the gsxr makes awesome power with the LV and you don't see them on every squid's bike due to the price tag. Might be an Akra too, cant go wrong with them either.
Sound, looks and weight of the Yoshi- none does it for me.
