Gonna Pull the Trigger on a New BMW!
01/29/10 12:20 PM

Stealers got a 2010 S1000RR comin in the optional BMW Motosports colors with ABS and all the traction control goodies on there. I can't pass it up, 181 rear wheel HP with an Akro....whoowhee! Never thought I'd be goin to a Beemer, no discounts on these babies though they're in short supply. Rook am I nuts?

It may be nne of my business ....But I think he may be right. I read a sportbike article a couple of days ago and the test rider thought it was more like 170 hp on his seat of the pants dyno. Chasing marginal gains with big dollars may not be the way to go. the difference between the bmw and your cbr1000 may only be apparent to the very best track riders. Expensive to buy and insure and not much different from what you already have. You may want to think about this and put the money toward retirement. IMHO

I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer. The future is uncertain and the end is always near.

Hehe.... now that is some good advice! .....of course if we all lived like that though the whole country would be in a recession!

If you have to get another bike right now, this is the one. Traction/control, ABS, electric shift, more electronic feedback on the council than anyone can even look at......... You'll be set for anything you want to do on a literbike. Even if it does take a professional to ride that thing at peak performance, the low weight will be a big asset even for street riding. There's all kinds of places you could hit the rev limiter. I bet it wouldn't take much road at all. I can do that in 1/2 block on the 14. This will be like a whole different bike. It's going to be like a 600 with literbike power and you'll be able to fit on it too. You'll be doing wheelies and stoppies all over Starbucks!!!! What color you thinking about?

#5 and no plans to trade anything in Rook, the U.S. dollar is going to be as worthless as Monopoly money inside of 24 months anyway with the government printing presses running full tilt boogey. Might as well go out with a bang the way I see it. Besides, there definitely won't me one of these on every block.... kind of like owning a Desmocedicci without the maintenance headaches.

Hotdiggity, I like the way you think Rook! I'll be the envy of all down at the local Starbucks! The BMW Motorsports special color is the only one to have, White Red and Blue livery. The Acid Green Metallic or Nuclear Baby Poop Green as some call it looks like day old vomit to me. The bottom line is you'll have no excuses on this bad boy, if you have the cajones to twist it hard it'll put anything back on the trailer this side of of Rossi's bike. You can't never have too much horsepower.....yeehaw!!

I was quoted $15,222.24 OTD for a plain S1000rr a few weeks ago. Race colors and all the electronics I would think would run about $16,700.

I would go with a plain jane but if you got the cash/credit, that extra 1,500 or so is a bargain for all that nice, race stuff.

PC and Akra is all ya need. They already have that. Maybe there is more stuff you would want for track riding but i don't know if Kruz is going to get into that.

Might as well go out with a bang the way I see it.

You are tooooo funny, bad!

If I let my breath out, the bikes have changed that quick. Now, I am going to hold my breath and see what Japan comes out with. 2006 to 2010 seems about the window something new comes and takes out the other. Brock posted the pile on his page. Keith Code has a fleet to pile up. It's all good...

Kruz, you either have more money than sense, or you are going to grow wiser with age (hopefully) and regret everything you wrote, above, and did. But of course, nobody can tell you that, and we probably shouldn't try.

Have fun!

Kruz I also have 5 and one is a 2009 K1300GT. I do not regret having it but I figure haters will be haters then again most beemer haters are ricers and we know ricers have no class.

Yep that should do it for awhile

I say spend that 16k in track school and then you could smoke the rest of the posers on any sport bike who buy that bike because it has 5 more hp than the next guy.

You about nailed it Rook, this thing is way more than any Jap bike. If I put the difference into my ZX-10 it might just dust the Beemer. $6500 difference would buy the Akro Titanium pipe, PCIII, custom mapping, Baz traction control, Galfer rotors and lines, Marchesini magnesium wheels and a few other goodies with bucks to spare. With the Akro and PCIII alone you're looking at 175 rear wheel HP from the 10 with low and midrange stomp the Beemer can only dream about.

It is food for thought....hmmmm!
