I don't think it will happen. That would alienate a lot of loyal 14 owners. The Gen 2 has only been out a couple years and a lot of those owners would not be able to step up to the supercharged 14. They'd be stuck with the old bike they just paid good money to buy brand new. Sure fire way to create more busa owners when the gen 3 busa comes out.
but I hope this happens anyway. I'm riding a Gen1 and and I don't have much hope of buying anything new. Maybe a turbo but not a whole new bike.

A supercharger makes an engine generate a buttload of heat-not a problem when there's cool water being pulled up and circulated through the exhaust manifold to suck off excess temperature. Bit of a different story on the street with a closed-loop cooling system.

Guys I can see it happing…..let’s face it the 14R has already been out for what 2 or 3 years and honestly it hasn’t changed that much form the earlier bike. Yes there are changes with displacement and traction control but there are still a lot of 2006 to 2010 guys out there that wouldn’t buy one because for the money it’s not that much different. BUT with the super charger on there I bet you’d see a shit ton of buyer because of the Super charger not to mention the other few up grades they did do. Alienate someone Naaaaaaa don’t see it rook. And if the 14R guys can’t buy one because they just bought theirs…..what does Kawasaki care? The fact is if you don’t constantly move forward you’re standing still and sales will fall off. We need change all the time to spark interest and force the buyers out of the wood work. Hell just look at the I phone???? I was not even close to thinking about buying another 14 for my next bike but if this bike came out I can tell you I’d be the first in line for one.

There in a nutshell is my problem with the 14R, yes it has a little more power and the TC but I just can't bring myself to drop the big bucks to get one for what I consider to be, marginal improvements over my '06. I'm trying to get fired up over the 14R but it just hasn't happened yet... although I will admit the looks are starting to grow on me a bit. That said, I am planning to drop by the dealer tomorrow and take another look.
I think the bike I really want though is the SuperDuke 1290, now that bike really get's my attention.

Kruz superduke r. Plus one here please. It fits like a glove for us taller blokes (it's the 2014 bike pic for me).
That said I hear Suzuki is prepping a monster 2015 gsxr (totally redesigned to take the litre crown). I will be the first to buy one of those when they arrive!
I am in the hunt for a track scalpol and I am not pavlovian in my appreciation for the bmw 1000rr.

I heard Kruz was going looking at new bikes today.
True, true Rook, I've got the three year itch again. Rode my 14 to Kawasaki today to look at a 14R but came away feeling a bit flat. I just can't get out the checkbook on this one. Maybe if I could get a test ride it might get me a little more excited but for now I'm just going to have to say no.
Wolf, I've looked at the S1000RR and test rode one. My feeling is it's a lot of money and in a lot of ways I didn't like it as much as my '11 ZX-10R. More vibes, top heavy feeling and the TC is no where as good as the seamless KTRAC system on the Kawasaki. Also, for the street at least, the suspension is not as compliant. It does have a 15 HP advantage stock to stock over the 10R but that's only a snip of an ECU wire away.
It's going to take a heck of a bike to get me to write a check. Next stop is KTM to look at a Super Duke 1290.

Kruz I'm with you the 1290 is so freaking sweet! Love this bike for sure. I know if I ride one it will wide up that I don't stop till she's in my garage. :). As far as the 14r I like it but with all my mods and 206 @ the rear wheel they have nothing on my baby.....oh yeah my traction control is my wrist! Lol

Yep, I think I need something really different from the 14 as a next bike and the Superduke fills that bill, wild looks, naked and big power, sounds like a winner to me. Only issue, they ain't cheap and KTM never discounts, you're looking at at least $19K out the door so bring bucks!

BMW S1000RR outguns the Super Duke R on the long straights but the 1290 repasses him every time on corner entry.

Yeah that a pretty crazy price for sure....I would love to find one with like 3,000 miles on her for around 14,000.00 I think they are way to new for that to happen. I need to ride my ZX10 a lot this season and then if work goes well maybe next winter I mat get the itch. I really only got to ride the 10 about 1500 miles. And now with all the mods I did it's gonna be way crazy so she'll keep me excited all summer I'm sure! But I do think bikes are like beautiful women "just wanna have them all" lol
