200 MPH in 2011
01/13/11 5:26 PM

Guy's on my bucket list is hitting 200 on the ground in a car or bike...I'm thinking my Monster is the ticket for sure. I have what I think is all the right gear. I run 17 front and 42 rear which at like 10,600 RPM's is 202 MPH give or take. Why are guy's running a 40 rear to hit 200? I know that would give her more top end but with the 42 rear at 10,600 RPM's in 6th she should be good to go...I am planning on headed to NH this July for the run. It's 1.5 miles of wide open then 1 mile of shut down. What do you think?

Here's a list of my mods:

Sweet!

I broke 200mph in my modified Z06. What a rush!!!
Scared the hell out of me and only did it once, on a turnpike.

I have no desire to do it on the bike.

Check out shane661's "My ZX-14 Build Thread".

It's a long read but is loaded with good info. You'll also get some good responses if you post this question on BL. More LSR guys hang out over there.

You got the bike... now lets see if you got the nutz. Just make sure you do it somewhere that will give you a time slip or have a video camera focused on a GPS, to silence any haters.

I've tried more than once, at the time speedo said yes, GPS said no. Need More Power Captain.

I went to, or over, 200 mph on a modified ZX11 in 1991 on a public highway.

a) stupid
b) still can't believe I didn't get arrested

Your ZX14 is more than capable of breaking 200, if you are capable of taking it there.

Romans I would think I would be ok but it would depend on how long I have before I have to shut her down. In NH the run is 1.5 miles WOT then 1 mile of shut down. I think 1.5 would be enough.

somefun what do you weigh.what does your bike weigh,194 hp is that standard or SAE corrected hp,pump gas or race fuel.I have an 07 with BSTs Brock 2.25 S-meg,stock my 07 weighed in at 550.I'm now at about 510 The only additional mod I can do is diet, I figure I can loose10 to 15lbs that would bring me down to 150 -155.If 194 is sae corrected it is do-able,but I've been advised to go down to a 40 sprocket, drops the revs a little easier to pull top end

Darryle the 194 is corrected HP. I weigh 185 lbs. I’m not sure what the bike weight is. I’ve removed the entire reflectors rear tail fender, lower wing that covers the rear shock, BST wheels, Pilot Pure tires, titanium bolts on all rotors and calipers. I have Factory Pro Velocity Mid Stacks, Power commander 5, full Muzzy M14 system, Muzzy timing advancer set at 4 degrees +, no flies, BMC filter, Galfer super bike front and rear rotors, GI Pro with ATRE. I don’t think I can save much more weight with out screwing up ride ability. I ride about 10,000 miles per year…. I have a 190/55 rear and run a 42 rear Vortex sprocket so that kind of equals the 42 rear to a stocker 41 tooth I would think…

A lithium battery will drop 8 -9 lbs, with the mods you listed 194 seems a little high unless your running MR9 .Running on the street a stock filter with the mesh removed is supposed to be better then the Bmc,read the Brock diaries.I 've known Lang Hindle for 40 years his summary is 200 hp 200 mph

You really need a GPS to get an idea what your pulling top end.Where did you get your titanium rotor bolts?

I’m looking at doing the battery next. Not sure but my dyno chart shows it. After my custom tune she rips! I have a Bonneville pro that was set by GPS…Got the bolts from Pro-Bolt.USA they have a HUGE selection…..I have to try and find a place that I can get the entire bike weighed…..I’d love to know what she was and what she is now….

I'm from N.H. and the only (run what you brung) event I know about is the radar run at the newport N.H. municipal airport. Its my understanding that they do not allow motorcycles to run due to to insurance restrictions. If there is somewhere else in the state that would be great! count me in !!!

Guys here's that Top Speed deal I was talking about. http://lta-lsr.com/default.aspx I was going to say I'm dying to hit 200 MPH but I think I'll change it up and say I really want to hit 200!!! LOL With all my mods I think I can. I/m running a 17-42 and from the gearing calculator she will be at 205MPH @ 10,800 RPMs....If I can hit 10,800. What do you guys; think? I weigh 190 lbs....

never caught that.. Goog God , please don't die to do 200!

You will be fine. Give it your best and don't of course----if it isn't the day, don't push it too hard. You're in the place where it is as safe as possible so relax, tuck down good and tight and enjoy the ride. get some vid if you can. Prolly off bike cam for LSR but still be cool to see your flyby.

I wish you best, Bruh. I don't have a lot of knowledge on this but I have heard 200 on basic mods is a lofty goal. You need a 130-140 pounder as a backup jockey. I know your bike will do it.

Kawasaki ZX-14 Runs Over 200 mph
by PAUL CROWE - "THE KNEESLIDER" on 10/18/2006
in MOTORCYCLE RACING,WORKSHOP & TOOLS

A ZX14 prepared by Brocks Performance Products ran 200.92 mph at the ECTA (East Coast Timing Association) speed trials in North Carolina a few weeks ago. There have been quite a few street bikes able to crack the 200 mph mark in recent years but this ZX14 did it without nitrous, without a turbo and without a supercharger. This was no big bore monster, either, in fact, it was very close to stock.

Brock Davidson lists the only modifications as the addition of his Brock’s Performance “Street Megaphone” exhaust system, a custom map for the aftermarket fuel injection box, a re-calibrated speedometer, ceramic wheel bearings and some drag racing suspension tie-down straps.

Yeah I think I have the mods covered for sure. I think the only thing I'll do is the front straps....I think I'll leave the 42 rear on cuz this way the rpm's will be higher (more power in the upper range) and hope for the best. This event is 1.5 miles of WTO from a stand still. I'm sure if I could be ripping down a long enought streach I could hit it...Like 2 or three miles but it will be fun to see if I can. It would blow if I go all the way up to like 198 or some thing and couldn't break the 200! :)

Hope ya can get to 200 and then some,Somefun.I've been up there REALLY close with mine....getting there is a true joy.Rock solid and smooth.BUT...doing what THOSE guys are doing....200 in the 1/4...shi^...no way.I read their description of their acceleration experience...NOT.I doubt I could manage holding on accelerating that fast.Good luck Bro!!You CAN do it...I know ya can!Your bike will cross that mark...I've no doubts about it.

I'm not gonna go for a 200 this year...just regeared for acceleration again.I think my baby's top end romps are gonna be possibly over.I've had a blast topping out my bike on several occasions here...got a sweet open 3 mile stretch of straight.Virtually NO traffic. But I'm concerned about hurtin somethin now...at 42,000 miles.Wanna keep this baby for as long as I can...hopefully without any engine work!So far,so good.So I aint gonna push it anymore I don't think.

Have a blast bro...for sure...keep us posted on yer quest.
