Need help please.
07/29/19 6:59 PM

I wrecked my 2015 zx14 a year ago and replaced it with a H2 SX SE. I am gonna trade it in and get another 14 when the 2020 comes out. I just ordered a new enclosed trailer and Pitbull Trailer Restraints for my CRF450l and a zx14. The pins aren’t marked from pitbull so I’m taking them to have them laser engraved tomorrow. One pin is larger than the other. I need to know which side is larger the chain side or rotor side? Thanks in advance.

The wife doesn’t like the seating position. It puts her too far back and higher than me. We ride pretty aggressively and she can’t hang on like she could on the 14. So we’re going back.
Here’s my 14.

One pin is larger than the other. I need to know which side is larger the chain side or rotor side? Thanks in advance.

The pins fit exactly so once you have the new bike it will be obvious which side goes where.

The pins I have for my busa are marked incorrectly. The LH pin is marked R and the RH pin is marked L. That's because you can use the Pit Bull Trailer restraint with bar forward or bar back and it';s marked for bar forward which is not the position most opt for.

Somebody just look at their 14's axle and tell the guy which hole is bigger. My bet is the brake rotor side is bigger. ........of course, it matters which side yo put your axle nut on then doesn't it?? I put mine on the RH side but that is not OEM.

ANSWER: Depends on how you are going to position the trailer restraint and how you are going to install your axle. Don't sweat it. Make sure sure you know which pins are for the 14 and the rest will be obvious when you use the trailer restraint.

TIP. I recommend the use of some Canyon Dancers pulling straight out to the sides along with the trailer restraint. Not a must by any means but will keep the bike from rocking on the axle. Get the 28" (shortest) Canyonn Dancers. Remove your bar end weights when you use the new Canyon Dancers with the poly cups.

Thanks for the response. My pins aren’t marked left and right. They have a part number on the very tip but that’s it. I will be using it bar rearward. It will be a little bit before I get the new bike (waiting on the 2020). But I already bought the TRS and a local trophy shop is gonna laser engrave the pins for $5 each. I figure if I’m gonna mark them for each bike I might as well mark L and R too. And my axle nut was on the right side of my 2015 zx14 from the factory. Assuming you mean the chain side is left and brake rotor side is right.

Off subject but how would you compare the 14R and H2 SX to each other for touring (comfort), handling, fuel consumption, and outright performance?

Really wanting to add the SX to my garage so I’d like to hear what your input is on both bikes in general excluding 2 up ergos because my wife refuses to ride.

Yes, my part numbers have a number with L on one side and a number with R on the other. I presume that means left and right...but as mentioned, it depends on which way you put your axle in.

And my axle nut was on the right side of my 2015 zx14 from the factory. Assuming you mean the chain side is left and brake rotor side is right.

Huh!! the axle nut on my 08 was on the left from the factory. I guess they finally figured out that is not the best side put it on to maintain axle alignment when torquing the nut. Yes, sprocket is left, rotor is right, that's how I call it. You could mark the pins "N" for nut and "F" for flat. That would cover all your bases no matter which way you put your axle in or which direction the trailer restraint is used.

Anyone look at their axle yet to tell the guy which end has a bigger hole? I'd do it but my 14 is in Michigan right now. Gotta be the axle nut side has the bigger hole, right?

Comparing the 14 to the H2. The shifter is awesome. Clutches upshifts at redline sound like heaven. The heated grips and great in cold weather. The cruise control is awesome. It’s nice to be able to rest your right hand and wrist. I ride 2 up so the adjustable preload on the rear is nice too. Ergonomics the h2 is higher off the ground and riding position is more upright so you aren’t leaned over as much as the 14 and has more legroom. The seat sucks ass bit so did the stock 14 seat for me anyway. Handling is better. The h2 feels like a lot lighter bike than the 14 in the twisties. As far as performance the h2 is a little slower stock than the 14 but a slip on,reflash, and filter will get you 60-70 hp to the rear tire which is nuts. If I rode solo I would be keeping it. The only reason I’m going back is because the wife doesn’t like it and she is with me 99% of the time.

Great to hear and thank you for your input. I’d be doing a flash/ exhaust almost immediately ( bang for the buck is to hard to pass up). I believe I’m going to pull the trigger on one soon.

I’d like to get that deal on the SE + model. Again; thank you for sharing your experience with these machines.

Palmer, I stuck my finger in both ends of my Hayabusa axle and the threaded end has the smaller hole. The 14 is probably the same but can't say that for 100%.
