Should I?
04/23/14 12:16 AM

Hi, I'm brand new to the site and am thoroughly obsessed. My friend (who inspired me to ride originally) has got one and it blows my mind. My only hesitation in buying one is my size. I'm 5'8" and 150 lbs. most zx14 owners I've met are around 6'. Another factor may be that I've only been riding about two years. I'm not reckless in unsafe conditions but maybe the jump from a Monster 750 to this beast is too much? Interested in any feedback!

ChassenButt,

In my opinion! Your size means very little you already took the bike for a ride so you know what your in for size wise. Now as far as the power is concern, I feel it's like saying a girls tits are to big so I can't date her. Look 55mph or 150mph are the same no matter what you ride so if you feel that you will take advantage of the top end speed then most sport bikes are not for you but from your very 1st. post you sound like your ready to do it so hopefully you will join the family of the elite it's a great place to be!!

Last but not least the biggest difference between your 750 Monster is the overall length and size. So here's the breakdown your 750 will have a much better turning radius and the ZX 14 in low speeds parking lots are a bit tricky but once you get use to it, it's no big deal! An this is where the size comes in to play the ZX is a long and a bit heavy but again only in low speeds! Get one an you will wonder why it took you so long to get one...

My cents

Awesome. You're weight is going to be a BIG + if you race. As far as cornering and hanging off the side, maybe you will just have to hang over a bit more...or you'll get a 600 for that riding and walk all over the big guys again.

Careful with your footing when you come to a stop. The 14 is a little lower in the saddle than most other bikes but still pretty high. I've seen guys on their tippy toes at a stoplight though. If you need you might find a thinner seat and go with lowering the bike.

Congrats on the new bike. Take your time getting used to it in all different conditions. The performance envelope on this baby is so high that it will take a bit of time to sneak up on it and your limits. As far as size, just stay aware of when you will be needing to put your foot down. Riding size don't matter, just ask one Dani Pedrosa.

Buy it man!

I'm 5'7" and 145lbs and own a 2013 ZX14R along with a BMW S1000RR. The bikes go like mad - like I'm not even on there!
