I put 'em back in, and put a new map in the PCIII, I am not disappointed at all! It runs good, seems to have more power down low vs. stock computer and flies in (06-07). Plus, I get better mpg, a nice change from driving the Avalanche!

You feel more power down low on your 06 or 07 14 with the flies back in than when they were out? I must be reading that wrong........or else you had some kind of HORRIBLE flies out map installed in your power commander. With my flies in stock on my 06 it was a complete and utter pig under 6 grand on the tach. It didn't matter how much or how little I twisted the throttle, I only had had a VERY limited amount of power available, and not enough to have ANY kind of sporting fun with. I basically had to ride my 14 like a 600.....keeping the revs above 6000 all the time, to have any power when I needed it. Once those flies came out I had a TON more power starting from 3000rpm on up. I also had a power commander with Ivans map installed tho too.....his maps rock All I can think is you must of had a real bad flies out map, or a corrupt map or something? On the 06-07's the flies in/flies out difference is huge, especially with good mapping

Spot on, Bad. Something must have been horribly wrong, Donny. My flies are somewhere in a scrap yard waiting to be turned into a new car or something, and thats where they belong. The difference between in and out is HUGE. Yes, maybe a bad map. I tried another map from someone and it ran well on top end but had a strange hesitation from off idle while pulling away. I reloaded my map and it works for me. My mpg is about the same.

Donny, can you get me some of whatever it is you been smokin???? Seriously, my '06 with flies in ran like it had a nest of gerbils stuffed down the intake below 6000 rpm. My 6R would have taken it off the line..seriously. Flies out with Ivan's map and this thing hits like a freight train as low as 2000 rpm. You must have gotten your flies out map out of a Cracker Jack box....sorry but it's true!

Ivan's map adds some serious fuel right there where the flies used to open.... runs smooooooth as buttah!

I just went and pulled Ivan's 14 map and plotted it on the DynoJet map compare feature. Between 5% and 100% throttle position and from idle rpm to 6500 rpm, i.e. the range of the flys opening, his flies out map adds anywhere from +5% to +20% more fuel. 0% throttle is unchanged and 2% throttle actually goes slightly negative fuel across the rpm range from -2% at idle to -10% at higher rpms.
The map is hugely different from the stock ECU map and like I said this thing is a raging beast now on the low end.....butt still silky smooth!

Donny, I did a 250 mile trip three weeks ago, 60 miles of freeway cruising and the rest twisties and fast farm to market roads. I averaged right below 40 mpg, right there with any of my other bikes except maybe the cruiser.

This does
Blue you are talking about performance obviously and in general a modded bike will be faster than a stock bike. Believe it or not you ride a street bike not a race bike so in most cases your mods are not improving on the stock design just altering it to fit your purpose. Making a bike faster is easy as hell making one work better than the department full of PhD holding engineers that designed the bike is not so easy. A good example of this is a lowered, geared, piped zx14. Its way faster than a stock zx14 however it won't work as well as a stock bike that is used for its intended purpose. Now if you think you can mod your way to a better street bike there are tons of vendors that will take your money.

I'd say it's pretty accurate.I ran mine down to the point where she started flickering "empty"...my avg mpg at that point was 33.I kept going to the next fuel stop.Pulled in.Filled my tank to the top.She took 5 gallons. The tank holds 5.8 gallons. The mileage was just at 32+ miles from the "empty" point to the station.I wasn't on "inst." setting, but from watching that before,it goes all over the place, everytime you accelerate, slow down...cruise,adjust throttle...it'll read something different...sometimes VERY different.I've had my "inst" display show anywhere from 70 mpg to 20 mpg...in just a few miles. But the avg stays very steady...and reliable.
As far as modding MORE to my bike....nah...don't want or need to.She's fine as she is now.Virtually stock...except no flies and a set of slip-ons and map.

Often, I wonder how accurate that real-time mpg really is. Anyone?Don't know, since I added a PCIII it's not even close, that near 40 mpg figure I gave you was based on calculated fuel burn based on measured fuel at fillup and mileage on the trip odometer.

Yes...stock gearing Willi....factory set at 5-7% off.Non-corrected.190/50 rear tire.So if yer reading 186,yer really going 179-180.That's what I meant by "accurate"...it is....for the 5-7% factory shipped setting. If yer reading 60mph...yer doing 55 or right in there.
Corrected...not fixed..it isn't broken.

It was a dog when it was new/stock. Took the flies out, ran richer, and cooler! MPG suffered, had instant torque at most RPMs, which to me was the flaw; and the reason KHI put the secondaries in in the first place. Sure, it's nice to have 100 ft lb most anywhere, but, a very judicious application of throttle at all times, especially when wet or cold tires.
Put 'em back in, runs hot again (not good, need to fix this), but the map I put in seems to take the lulls away down low. Don't know, I'm just saying this is how it feels.
Kruz, I'm wondering about getting this Ivan set up, with flies in, available? I've curtailed my sport riding big time over the past couple of years for many reasons, none I'm not too pleased with, but, this is how it goes.

sorry I'm an IT guy anyhing that is not working as it should is broken in my mind
Ditto, all my Jap bikes are 7-10% off. It's irritating actually because they do it intentionally. It makes the zero to 60 times look better and makes it appear your bike has more performance than it really does. It irritates me when running at the speed limit on the freeway I'm trying to ride my bike, watch for traffic and do unneccessary mental gymnastics to figure out how fast I'mn really going. It would be one less thing to worry about if 70 mph meant 70 mph, not 63 mph or some other such nonsense. Japan, listen to us and build an accurate speedometer before you add more useless electronic gimcracks!

Hi Donny, Ivan doesn't make a flies in map that I'm aware of but he does sell the TRE-008 that opens the flies quicker and requires no remapping. I have one at the house, send me your address and I'll send it to you. If you like it, keep it and send me a couple bucks for beer money. The low end response is halfway between flies in and flies out, you may like it. If not, send it back.

Wow, thanks John! Does it interfere with any maps installed right now, and, a PCIII that is still installed? The PCIII is much better than stock; this is my hymnal; that is sings much better with the stock flies in AND the PCIII. I wonder how much better the device you mention is? I certainly would like to try it, and can float you a few bucks your way via pay pal, or just call it beer or coffee money -- haha.
