If i use a lowering strap to lower the front in of my 2012 zx14R, is it as reliable as the links? And is there any long term effects that would harm my bike? I know cheaper is not always best.

Lowering straps should only be used at the track to limit suspension travel. If your asking about street use, then no it's not a good idea because you would render your front suspension useless. You need full suspension travel on the street for safe handling.

the links dont lower the front anyway, links drop the rear. front you need to raise the fork tubes up through the triple tree ( free and easy way ) or have lowering blocks put in, they also can do new springs in the front to lower it.
