7th Gear Club
10/11/13 4:54 AM

Anyone ring out 6th and look for 7th?
1) Wolfman

Cut and paste and add to the 7th club!
Thinking of creating a 7th gear patch that can be elegantly placed over the lapel!!!
It's undercover and communicates our intentions without drawing police attention.
Thinking of a nasty sharp edged sprocket with a 7 in the middle. Any suggestion boyz?

Well I for one love that freakin idea! I don't just like it. I love it. I have hit sixth hard enough during windscreen testing that I am ordering a two tooth smaller rear sprocket. Staying with stock front. I'm gonna get this bitch to consistently break 210mph on the street. Promise. It is a goal that I SHALL ACHIEVE. I plan on a sexy 'Deathstalker Performance', dual nos setup and headers (Nasty has a parts list waitin on my 'go' I believe). Those mods for Priscilla, combined with the flash and windscreen options will end up being a prototype for attainable velocity. The problem with attaining these speeds is all the varying factors involved. A 5-7 mph cross-wind can kill you. A dip or pebble can kill you. A fuckin squirrel running across the road could potentially X - ya right out of the equation. So we mitigate that risk with big power to get us up there QUICKLY. And we use only top shelf componentry that we triple check with our own hands. These speeds have NEVER EVER been so attainable as they are with the 14R. This shit is crackin right now. 200 is already a fairly common thing with this machine if set up and run correctly. That is such a frickin awesome achievement for a streetbike. I appreciate the access to velocity the mighty 14R has given us. I am in sir. Like... Wholeheartedly.

The US needs it's own mini autobahns. Zip-zop I'm home. You'd be on a more dangerous bike in 7th. 6th is a perfect puller outta trouble. 7th, you'd meet the side of the vehicle and other lane/wall/sidewalk/fill in the things to the right or left of you.

The 14 had a perfect 1st gear leave/6th gear leave from a dead stop, where both could do that. The R is geared different and she does not like that ratio change. You change that sprocket for top end teeth, not tooth, you'll be in 5th screaming for a 6th gear patch.

It's just another piece of the top speed puzzle. Slammin against the limit in sixth tells me I need longer gearing. Right now as she sits it's not drag stoppin me with a tight tuck, it's the gearing. I don't loaf along in sixth usually unless on the highway just cruising. I grab sixth under load hard from fifth and and she runs out to 11200 no probs. If I go one larger up front and one smaller in the rear, that will be too tall without NOS for most stuff. But two smaller in the back has already been run a lot and Rickey Gadsden uses that along with his 3400rpm launch to run pretty decent slips. And if I stay with my stock gearing, I know its limit. Worth trying an already used gear combo to see if I can eek out a few more MPH. Stack some more data. Takes about 20 minutes to swap back if it's shite.

I do see WOT ur sayin about 6th being geared nice for rippin outta trouble. I usually slam a downshift if my spider sense tingles. Regardless of the situation a bike sittin in a beefier range is easier to blast out with. So when reacting quickly to danger the point a to point b (out of trouble), is faster with a rapid downshift or two rather then leaving in 6th and lugging.

Gearing...yes...it's the gearing.Mine won't pull any farther at 191.That's it.For mine anyway.I could easily pass 200 with a bigger gear out back....she's not 'redlining' in 6th either.Hitting 11K...yes...but not into the midnumbers.

And hey Grn, there is a technique that often helps when trying to blast sixth. I ya jut roll on it up there the wind resistance is massive. So wot I try and do is rap out 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. Carry that hard momentum from the lower gears and by the time ya rap wot on 6th the follow through is apparent. Helps to shove you hard to your maximum speed. Might be worth tryin. Worst thing that happens is ya have some fun! ;)

As I leave 5 at top near redline, when sixth clunks in I SMASH the throttle with the same rifle hand dexterity as an adolescent about to ejaculate in his girlfriends face.
