Finally got a big zed!
02/16/12 2:47 PM

Hi all - I've been wanting a big Kawasaki since the ZX-10 came out back in the eighties! Well, the -10 came & went, then the -11 and -12. I've been watching this '11 ZX-14 at my local dealership since they got it last Feb. It sat & sat, always listed at msrp + freight, set-up, tax, license, etc. When I went in for a visit last November, there was a balloon tied to the handlebars and a "sale" tag listing it at $3K below msrp, plus a promo interest rate for the first two years. So I couldn't resist, and am now the proud owner of an all black '11 Zed-14. I also have an '08 Bandit 1250S, which has been a great bike, and I have 34K miles on her. So far I only have 1200 miles on the new Zed, but look forward to putting on some bigger miles this summer when I'm off of work - I'm a substitute school teacher. I've been reading all the posts in this forum and getting aquainted with the regular posters and the bike, and I look forward to hanging out with you folks!

Sorry - no can do on a picture. I'm pretty much of a computer illiterate. It took me a couple of weeks just to figure out how to register on this site so that I could post, instead of just read! My new Zed is a total stocker, black 2011 model, so you could probably Google Image her. The only mods I've made so far are a Cox radiator guard and a small Progrip tank protector, oh, and a Battery Tender dedicated harness/connection. My last two bikes, a '99 Connie, and my Bandit, both had/have center stands, and I am thinking about getting the optional stock one for my new bike. I like being able to get the back wheel up when I'm traveling to lube the chain. I bought a Redline Engineering Sport Bike center stand, and it works well for getting Zed up here at home, but I would like to get the dedicated stand since I'm not a serious sportbike rider that will be dragging hard parts or anything. BTW, I tried putting my Nelson-Rigg size large cover from my Bandit on Zed, and it was too small. Will an extra-large cover fit the ZX-14?

Welcome abroad and congratulations on your new bike and I’m sorry for my lack of punctuation and improper word usage and I’m not sure about your cover question!

When I read his story I understand he fell in love with the red 1. He came to check on her periodically, I don't think he would have cared about the new 1.

Glad you finally got the girl Samuel! Welcome to the forum. Oh and newbies HAVE to post pics

Sorry - no can do on a picture. I'm pretty much of a computer illiterate. It took me a couple of weeks just to figure out how to register on this site so that I could post, instead of just read!

That was my story back in 08. look now, almost 6K posts. About 3K on the old forum and almost 1K at bikeland. Watch out, you could become a post HO!

You know about Photobucket? That's a website where you store images for use on the internet. will have a photobucket account soon enough. It's free and the most convenient way to post pics.

until then, just get your photos you want to upload to the desktop.

go to the tool bar on top of the dialogue box where you type your messages on this forum.

Click on 5th icon from left (looks like a photo print with a green tree image on it and a + sign at the corner--if you can see that small). A box comes up.

Click CHOOSE. a menu with drops down at the top of your screen. You may need to click on the location of your pics from the list on the left of the menu. I always just have my pic files I want to upload on my desktop. I would click DESKTOP if it was not automatically recognized by my computer as location of uploadable stuff. click the file you want to upload.

Go back to the upload box in the post area and click UPLOAD.

When the file is finished uploading, a box will drop down with the entire inventory of your pics uploaded to ninjaforums. It will take up to several minutes. Click on the image you want to post, it will automatically appear in the message you write in the post box.

whenever you want to post a pic from your collection, just click the 6th icon (looks like an open briefcase) from the tool bar on top of the post box. the menu with your photo collection will drop. click on the thumbnail image of the pic you want to posy in the current post box.

see look it's easy

sorry, thought maybe I should wait a few posts before springing that on ya but oh well...

Congrats on the new bike and WELCOME!

Well, the wife is gonna help this computer illiterate post a picture of my new Zed. Oh, and she is black like a true ninja warrior, and the reason I didn't go for a '12 14R is that my black beauty was discounted three grand, and they wanted close to $17K OTD for the '12! Plus I don't need no stinking traction control-I would never even come close to riding her to where it would come into play!
