For those with Muzzy M10
06/26/14 5:38 PM

Was riding yesterday and felt air on my leg coming from my M10. When i was done riding and looked under the bike this is what i saw. I cant find my instructions that came with the M10. I remember putting loctite on it before screwing it in. My question is what is this piece thats missing called and how important is it?

I think is called "oxygen sensor bung", it appears that the plug came out.

If it's an after market exhaust, it is likely to be an M18 thread O2 sensor bung as Kofla said.

Red loctite is only good to 450-550 degrees. Was there a copper washer on the plug? An autolite 346 sparkplug will fit for the meantime. On a serious note, goto the autozone and get an oil drain plug. M18 x 1.50. Antiseize it an torque it down.

18mm, Toyota oil pan drain plugs in the discount
auto store blister-packs are good. Beware the
stainless Allen-head plugs unless you want them
in there permanently. They gall in place and are
too soft, the socket will round out before the plug
comes loose.

Dorman 65220 oil pan plug (18mm x 1.5 thread, 19mm hex head)
1980 Toyota corolla drain plug.

I believe NAPA has weld in exhaust bungs available too (and plugs). If one is close to you, check there also.

It's a drive to Loud Mouth Marv's Muffler Shop. See if he has a bung or an old 02 sensor hanging around? Or maybe, Hard Starting Steve's TuneUp, now he might have a buncha shit hanging around on the shelf. Snip off the wire end and tighten it up without any sealer. Just a good tight snug so as not to damage the 02 body.

I'm lost ... was the lost piece a sensor and you're replacing it with just a plug?

On mines it never was a senor. If i had the senor i would have install it but the senor didnt come my full exhaust system it was originally just a plug.

Use a copper gasket. Why? See the edges and how soft the crush would be to cover all the leaks? See that paper gasket that came with the bolt? That's going to burn away, loosen up with that air gap of a burned out gasket and not a crush gasket made of metal and close-ability.

Glad to help, Nitti. A lot more pipes are coming with 02 sensor plugs, that use that hole for the tuning tools like the pc5's autotune setup.
