Slip-on ? ..

Hey wassup,

I was wondering... Is a Slip-on just another word for just the Exhaust? Or am i wrong here?

A slip-on comes with the muffler AND the mid pipe, which goes up underneath your bike and hooks up to your stock exhaust. A bolt-on is just the muffler that bolts directly to the end of the stock exhaust, where it stops by your rear passenger pegs. The 14 is a slip-on affair only, because the muffler and mid-pipe is one piece. My busa uses bolt-ons because just the mufflers exchange, the mid-pipe stays on the bike. Neither of these should be confused with a strap-on, which works with a whole 'nother type of exhaust......

Strapon- lol I got razzed for saying tool box instead of toolbox a while back.

You realize, of course, this might all be meaningless to Matsuke since he is no doubt acustomed to entirely different inuendos in Holland.

Compared to your new ones it is heavy. The new ones will weigh in around 6kg(this is a guess) for both. I think Muzzys weighed 13 lbs for the pair. I'm sure the guys can chime in if you need exact #'s. You will love the weight savings.

Full systems I've been thinking about weigh 9 - 11 lbs for the entire thing, including the header. Now that is light! Brock's CT duals full system weighs only 11 lbs and that's with 2 mufflers and and the whole rest of the system.

13.5 lbs each, not including the header.

Header: Approx 9-lbs.

Full system stock = Approx 37-lbs.

Was curious of the total weight of [my] riding gear = 9.35-lbs.

I wear a header, in other words, or BrockinnStocks.

If you go this route you won't be sorry. I bet they sound AWESOME. I do not think any of the members have them. If they did I'm sure they would post a pics of those little beauties.

^^ Sorry to highjack, Matsuke but I'm not seeing too many replies from you soooooo.....here's a link you have to cut & paste:

Not bad looking. Actually, I like the looks of a black exhaust better. S'pose I could paint the cans and midpipes some day. Costs a pretty penny but one way to look at it is that it's like buying 2 systems in one. You got your not too terribly loud touring exhaust and your high powered racing exhaust in one - and you never have to bother switching. I've grown partial to the appearance of a single but duals are cool especially if they are as light as some of the very lightest 4-2-1s.

I haven't been pricing used bikes but that 6,000 sounds about right. That's what I would have sold mine for at the beginning of the summer if I wanted to get rid of it fast. I don't think it would have gone for $8,000 with 7,000 miles on it. New 08 ZX-10s are going for $10,000 OTD. I see brand new 08 busas going for $11,000 OTD. Now is the time to grab it while you can. 2010s are going to cost a lot more.

Right Rook, that's why I keep saying it's time to stock up on scooters. Costs are going to go way up and production cycles are going to get way longer. Used bike prices may eventually go up as soon as inflation comes roaring back. Very few changes to either the 2010 ZX-14 or Honda Fireblade, mostly cosmetic, y'know "bold new graphics', that sorta thing.. I'm staying put for now.

RE: Slip-on ? ..

Well, i have 1 year untill im able to PAY for the ZX14 and im ALLOWED to ride it.

This is the general rule in the Netherlands : If you get you're motorcycle-license before you're 21,
you're stuck on a "beginners-license" and u have to ride a 34pk bike (or screw a 600cc bike back to 34pk
for example) .... I never did the last part, i did get a 600cc 100pk bike, but never screwed it back.
I think it's BS anyways, i got my license 2 months before turning 21, but i didnt want to wait for 2
months, i just wanted to RIDE!! .. Anyways, i did my damn exam on a heavy bike, and now im not allowed
to ride one, but a scooter of 34pk?? Screw that..

Anyways, that's the reason i have to wait a year with the ZX14, and hey. it gives me a year to save up around 5-6 thousand + selling my thundercat for around 4.000 .... Which is enough for a nice black leather set + nice helmet AANNDDDD a nice zx14 !! .... hehe
