Had a great winter ride today
12/19/13 7:12 PM

Strong wind gusts today but 59 degrees...woohoo !!! Was on a long straight country road following a pick up pulling an open trailer loaded with barrels. No traffic coming so pulled over in the left land and nailed it in third gear. Just as I passed the pick up I hit an open area and the wind gusts had me leaning way over to the right. Hit a bump in my lane and the front wheel jumped up while I was still leaned over. The wind was blowing so hard and being leaned over all I could do was hang on and ride it out. What a thrill !!! I love this bike !!!

I'm planning to take my baby out for a ride this weekend. So far we've been hit with three winter storms this month, but "experts" are predicting an "indian summer", warmer weather this weekend. Could see the mercury up to 65F by the weekend.

Yup, hit upper 50s here around St Louis. So I managed to get out for a little bit and put about 100 miles on the new bike.

I looked at the forecast for the east - you guys have about 1 more nice day before the temps drop 50 degrees.

Meanwhile out west, Christmas Day is supposed to be 68 (NorCal) and 76 down San Diego way.

Nice! I gots rain and crap here in the PacNor! Those 'oh shit', moments like you describe Street, are another area where this bike truly excels! Very forgiving chassis at the limit. I have a couple of those moments where on a lesser bike I would have been spit off, and yet Priscilla is forgiving and stable. Love this machine!

52 degrees here today and all the ice from a lingering ice storm is gone. Great day for a ride. I have been running cheap Chinese, light weight, carbon fiber (fake) and stainless steel (inferior grade) straight thru mufflers. Been using them without baffles as the sound is awesome. Under 3,000 RPM runs a little rough and mid range is okay but the engine literally screams at higher revs. Today, just for kicks, installed the baffles and what a difference. Low and mid range are way more powerful and the engine is just about as smooth as with the stock mufflers. Higher revs are still good but not quite as raw. It was a nice change and reminded me how smooth those heavy stock mufflers feel.

Street your bike looks mean, road warrior mean! The exhaust probably sparks more conversation than any other mod, as I have never seen one! That's cool! I'd ad some windshield spikes and spiked bar ends to complete that warrior stance.
Nice!

CB and Wolf: The mufflers were $60 for the pair including shipping. They weigh practically nothing and they sound awesome. Dont know how long they will last but so far so good. I had the mid pipes already from a set of Boz Bros slip-ons. Yeah the mufflers get a lot of attention but thats not why I use them. Wolf: Just cant add the spikes. I already have so many women wanting rides and if I add the spikes.....sheesh....how would I keep up ??

Rofl!!!! Good stuff! I know the solution to this particular problem sir! The three of us go out, get a couple beers and ya can tell the ladies 'the line forms to the left!', and me and wolf will be there to make sure no lady goes 'un-ridden'...

My 14r is going to spend the winter parked, there is too much deicer applied to the roads and I hate getting that shit all over my shiny new bike!

Had my Blackbird out on the 24th for a 170 mile jaunt, was down to 30 degrees at one point. There was tons of gravel and deicer all over my favorite twisty backroads. I spun up the rear tire and got sideways twice, leaned over and exiting a corner with minimal throttle application. I have to think that this would be where the 14r would really shine, with the tc. It was kind of a cool feeling tho, I felt like Marc Marquez. I just don't want to get spit off...
