Water in tank filler neck
03/06/11 2:54 AM

Hi all, i have noticed that water seems to collect in the tank filler neck between the fuel seal. I soak out the water but this is a pain. What is the best way to clear the darin hole that must clarwly be blocked?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Sit on bike. Left side lower [near] forward bottom of sprocket cover. See this clear container that you can dump water contamination out of? There is a black hose next to it. The black hose is for gas tank. The container is for the ram/water [if] a lot of rain happens to be sprayed in say. So, the clear container is dry, the black hose is your kink? Clog?

Again, remove seat, sit on bike so we know looking down, left-to-right, you see the one tube coming out the bottom of the gas tank [left side]? That's the water drain hole for this line down and out to the ground. Maybe a spider has taken up housing and clogged up the toilet.

You now have a backup problem. I'd call a plumber.

Probably of no relevance, but what is your climate like right now?

One of the most recommended ways to store a bike during the cold season is to put sta-bil in the gas and fill it all the way to the slosh grate. I bring the gas just over the slosh grate after it is on the stand for the winter.

This prevents water from condensing inside the tank. In the two winters I've had my 08 stored, it has never developed any moister around the filler cap area.

Where I live the humidity is relatively high, and it gets quite cold, during the winter.

I've had good luch doing this too. Only ting, I use Seafoam in the gas instead of sta-bil.

One thing--condensation can still develop but it will only be at the top.. If the tank is full, that space where the air pocket is not too hard to reach just in case rust ever does need to be removed.

I had this problem, the reason is when you yank the seat, tank and or other side panels, it's easy to crimp the drain hose, if crimped, water will build up in there, mix with the fuel, and rust the top of the tank. I have this problem now, rust in the top of the tank, but the crimp is fixed.
