center stand or spools with pitbull?
06/26/16 1:23 PM

I am in negotiations with a dealer on a left over 2014. I was thinking about getting a factory center stand or just use spools with a lift. Anyone have the center stand that can comment???

Thanks Chrly. That Abba stand looks pretty cool, but I was really wondering about peoples experience with OEM stand. I thought I read somewhere you lose some fairing.

Center stand is pretty heavy. Don't know if you can use a front stand with one. People like them but I would feel like I was getting off a Harley.

ABBA seems nice. My Hindle swing arm stand is very safe to use but probably not as vesatile as an ABBA. Put an aluminum side stand on to park the bike. JMHO

If you do many multi days touring, a center stand would be really helpful. If not, ABBA stand is better.

One major thing to consider. If you like taking multi day, high mileage trips, a centerstand is a real good piece to have. Chain maintenance, fixing or replace a tire on the road etc. And unless you're doing track days, the weight gain is minimal.

I bought the Kawi centerstand and love it. I can't feel the added weight, but then I mostly ride around in sport-tour mode anyway, always with a top case and sometimes with side cases, too. Very nice to be able to pop the bike up and lube the chain, clean the wheel. And I think the bike looks the best when on its centerstand too!

I actually use a Pit Bull stand to also get the front wheel off the ground:

Sorry ... I got a lil carried away.

Was debating the same thing and just put the order in for the Pitbull rear stand. Hope it's a good decision.

Not a fan of the center stand. Would be worried about exhaust options aftermarket. I have the pitbull rearstand and all I can say is get wide spools becaue the swingarm bulges out so you will need to adjust the pitbull wide. I scratched my swingarm just a little the first time but now it works perfect after some $7 chinese spools on ebay.

Never a problem. After you get the forward handle rear stand down, it's easy as pie. Only time I ever had a problem was lifting the bike when it had a rear flat. It was about 3" lower of course. Take your time and even that you can do. I lost my patients in a fit of aggravation. Scuffed up the swingarm a bit but all smoothed out now.
