Excited to join the forum with my 2008 ZX14

Hey everyone!

I've been riding motorcycles for 17 years and never would have thought I'd be on a bike like this. I also want to say Rook, your tutorials have been amazing and wanted to express my gratitude to the many other contributors that created the wealth of information on this forum.

And what is blowing my mind is, as someone that also owns a gen 3 Hayabusa, when I open my garage I find myself going to ride this 18 year old motorcycle instead of the Busa. I find it better from the power delivery, to the comfort and even the handling. I've already ordered a set of helibars and plan to do lots of touring this summer.

Only fault I can find with the bike is that it cuts out when giving it wide open throttle at low RPMS. Above 6k in any gear and it pulls like a freight train but under that it stutters. Ive read about others with this issue in the past and maybe it needs a new pressure sensor/map sensor as one post mentioned.

But even if I dont find the cause, this is an amazing bike and am thrilled to be getting as many miles as I can this summer!

Welcome, NH! I'm glad my tutorials have been helpful to you. Now that I have my forum pics function working again, I will work on getting the tutorials that lack pics back in order.

As far as the low rpm hiccup, I was thinking it may be fuel filter related.

You have my favorite bike! ...the 08 Midnight Sapphire Blue ZX-14. I have to have that bike back. even if I rebuild it and repaint it.

Thanks for the tip Rook! I will be testing out and replacing/fixing everything I can to get to the bottom of the stuttering issue. Wont stop me from enjoying it until then. And this color is really something unique. In the shade and at night it appears like a glossy black. But the moment the sun hits, it radiates the blue sparkles!

From zero throttle to just a crack, my 08 did nothing for two seconds. This was only at very low rpm and only in 1st and second gears. It seemed fine when it was cold but asoon as it warmed up, the ultra-fine throttle response was annoying. Normally, I would let the throttle back to zero and then open about 10% just for and instant and roll back to one or two percent throttle. That made it run fine...until I cut throttle to zero again. Then I would have play my little trick all over again. I never found out what the cause of it was.
