Back to basics

Sold my 07 14 back in 2010 and have always regretted it. Looking to get another one here in the next few months. My desires have changed since I've gotten older. Definitely going with a gen 2 and actually like the look of the stock exhaust. I had a full titanium tsukigi exhaust last go around and it was great at the time but I dont want it that loud this time. Are there any respectable gains to be had with a quiet/not as loud full system? I won't care about the weight so would be open to getting a little performance with a header and the gutted stock cans. I know this isn't the usual with this kind of bike but I remember how much of a cop magnet that wide open beast was back in the day.

Plain and simple is the open pipe gains some loses some. I'd keep it stock for the extra torque range at a certain rpm area. Cop magnet is not for me so I'm happy with the note it puts out.

I gutted one pipe, clogged the other hole and took off the other. Kind of a poor man's setup. Couldn't seat of the pants feel any difference.

I hear Akrapovic is a quieter exhaust at reasonable rpm and you will get among the best hp improvement with that too. I find a lot of value in knowing I spent money on the best performance enhancement I can afford but it's hard to beat free if you go with a gutted stock exhaust.

Stock systems are actually pretty well engineered for drivability, gutting the stock system can open up a can of tuning worms. Better to go with something like the Akra full system that is designed to work with your engine, creates more power and torque everywhere and still maintains the stock driveability. Old school a bit but I bolted a Yoshi full system on my '06 ZX14 way back in 2006 with Ivan's map and it has proven to be very good over the past 19 years, still riding it today.
