Typical HD rider...
09/22/11 9:04 AM

Yesterday I went to my last check up for my collarbone. I had to get my collarbone x-rayed before I saw the doctor. As I walked into the x-ray room, the x-ray technician was nice and asked me what he was going to x-ray. I told him my collarbone. He started to ask questions about it and I explained to him about the accident in detail. After I explained it to him he was nice and asked how I was doing and what happened to the driver and how much damage was done to the bike. I answered all his questions and he was very nice and interested in the story. So, when all that was done he asked me "What kind of motorcycle do you ride?" I told him that I ride a Kawasaki ZX14. His freaking first words out of his mouth were, "I thought you rode a motorcycle?" I looked at him and said, "You must ride a Harley, right?" He said to me "Hell yes, an Ultra Classic Custom!" I looked down on him with discontent, grabbed my Joe Rocket riding jacket and left without saying a word. See, he thought I rode a HD.

As I look back on him, I can realize that he was a typical HD rider. He is in his late 40's, short and stocky with salt and pepper hair slicked back and a long goatee. He had his tattoo's showing from under his medical smock top, with blue jeans and boots on. I beat he is one of those HD riders that will not wave to sport bike riders, because he is way to cool for that! What a douche bag!

Rant off...

Carry on...

Ah yes, when I am on my bike I can spot them about 90% of the time before they are 20 yards away. I can tell because they do not turn or move one muscle in their face. Zero acknowlegdement. Invariably, there is no response to a biker greeting. Not so much as a subtle nod. major douches. I can't believe he spoke to you like that. At the very least, it was a stupid arrogant joke. Hope he at least apologized.

Good one, Jbird.

While I was a Delmarva Bike Week, I was amused almost 100% of the time. Between the rev-ing them (the Harleys) up through open or nearly open pipes for ... what purpose?... and the way everyone who walked past my parked ZX14 stopped and looked at it, while walking past all the Harleys without stopping.....

To the way the posers dressed. I am sorry, harley dudes, but anyone can get tatoos, the girls in my office have more than you do. Lets not get side-tracked by tramp stamps though.

Its just funny as hell to see an attorney with a $40k chromed-out full dress Harley, and his do-rag, and barely-legal helmet, trying to be all badass.

I saw some real 1%-ers at Bike Week. I even talked to one, and he didn't kill me. Everyone, even the wanna-be poser dudes, got out of their way.

Why can't the posers dress like real motorcyclists, for comfort and protection, (this leaves Cooter out, but oh well), instead of trying, and failing, to pretend to be 1%-ers?

It just shows how stupid that guy was, paying $25,000 for a low performance machine. He could get a better ride on a Ninja 250.

What's a 1%er?

1.

It is a fully incdoctrinated motorcycle member. The outlaws of the motorcycle clubs/gangs. 99% of clubs are law-abiding and the other 1% aren't. These fellas do things like sew hooks in their leathers so that when cops search them they get a handful of hooks.

2.

In 1947 the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) organized a motorcycle rally called the Gypsy Tour which ended up overwhelming the small town of Hollister, California. About 50 arrests were made, mostly for public intoxication, and the AMA said the trouble was caused by the one percent deviant that tarnish the repurtation of all motorcycles and motorcyclists. Outlaw motorcycle clubs then took up the name one percenters. This incident was made famous by the 1953 Marlon Brando film The Wild One.

The Hell's Angels, Bandidos, Pagans, Outlaws and Mongols Motorcycle Clubs all consider themselves to be 1 Percenters.

3.

Situation: A man who is madly in love with someone goes to a resteraunt with them. Head over heels in love. He goes to the bathroom where a gorgeous woman tells him she'll give him a BJ, no strings attached. Only one percent of men will turn it down.

Oh, that guy's so sweet, I bet he's a 1 percenter!

4.

A club of about 1 percent of the male population, whom of which will actually eat a bleeding pussy.

See that dude over there? He's a 1 percenter!

looool. <-------- Dogo

It's really sad though!!! Those douche-rag guys give a bad rep to motorcyclists. I think they are just complexed cause we can pull wheelies and ride twisties at speeds their odometers won't even display so of course they got to compensate. What bothers me is that not every guy on a harley is like that but when I see the rag, no helmet and the tatoos I can't help but discriminate. A cple of months ago, I had to stop on the side of the road to tighten my fluid reservoir, I was in my 1 piece suit. A guy on his harley with his sweetheart both probably pushing fifty, wearing their dot approved do-rags stopped to make sure I was ok!!! The woman had at least 6 missing front teeth and the man wore the testimony of his hard lived life all over his body, they asked me twice if I needed help with what I was doing before they took off, The guy even said "nice bike", which reminded me of the guy that waited for me to start my bike so he could tell me "I love that sound" when I was leaving the harley store. I love to go there in my 1 piece suit and rev the bike so they can hear my ct-duals!!!
It frustrates me that they do-ragers make it hard for me to reach out especially when I'd like to be courteous to everybody. I think people on scooters have it worst tough, just the look they give me, it's like they thinking "I know you despise me". Two wheels is two wheels. I even wave to cyclists. looool

This actually made me laugh out loud! I've often passed scooter riders and felt bad for em. I usually wave at scooters and even motorcycle cops. Some of the cops just ignore me and others at least nod and acknowledge.

Thanks for laugh guys. I myself usually wave to anything on 2 wheels........except the cruiser, trying to be a Harley, or the actual Harley guy that seems to think he is the shite. Sometimes I still wave, figure I might irritate them. Is this wrong? I really have fun with the Hog that is all tricked out, rider thinks it's fast, and blow the handle bars off of it. Pick a sport bike I have owned, they all would do it. Actually the "fast" Harleys are not even Harleys technically. They are S&S, American Eagle etc.

Dogo, thanks for the interesting definitions. Some I was not aware of.

Dogo, i definitely do not fall into the number 4 1% category!!! BMW riders and Hardly riders in SA are both super arrogant, specially when they come past flat out at 210km/h on their GS's and I am only cruising at 180. Shame. You think it's something to do with their "size"? Maybe they are category 4 1%ters?

First, two thumbs up for your new avatar! Way to embrace the power of the force!

Second, thanks for the research and thesaurus.

Did you find how the Hell's Angels formed? Its a pretty interesting story.

That would be an outlaw biker who would turn down a no strings attached BJ from the hottest piece of ass hanging around the clubhouse, in favor of going home and eating his old lady's bleeding... well you get the point.

Extremely rare! Only example I know of is this guy:

I've read the history on their website... lol

Mostly just talks about how they came up with the name... Interesting thing is that the club was formed after Hollister.

Yes, the core of what became Hells Angels had a different club name pre-Hollister, I think, and was fairly tame and reclusive. They were military veterans and a smattering of other similar types of men who wanted to leave the stupid civilization and bullshit behind for a simple life of freedom and brotherhood.

After Hollister, they all figured out you could have fun kicking ass, and the rest is history.

Speaking of which, who thinks Paul Sr. of OCC is a flaming asshole and its no wonder none of his childred will speak to him? He has worn jump wings in a few segments, but I missed the unit patch, and it makes me sick to think a godawful poor example of a boss and father was airborne and served in the military. He's another 1%-er wanna-be poser, too.

Well, whatever, I got tons of respect for the real 1%-ers even though they'd just as soon run my ass off the road. They more than most anyone else have decided to live the way they damn please, and to hell with everyone else.

No matter what else, that is moral honesty to the extreme.

But then, a rattlesnake is morally honest too, its doing what is natural and instinctive, but I don't want to be friends with one.

I know what a lot of you mean! I wave at everyone on two wheels, no matter what. Most of the HD dudes just ignore and ride on just like a lot of the motor cops. I want to give us sport bike riders a good name to the HD raggers! I don't care if the y wave back or not.

There is this guy I sort of work with, not everyday but I know him pretty well at work. He rides a HD, the 100th anniversary copper ultra geezer glide. So, at work it's all Hi and hey whats up kind of stuff. As soon as he straps on that "DOT" approved brain bucket, it's all about the HD's and not me. I waved to him one day on his way home and he snubbed me. I confronted him the next day and he told me that he didn't see me or the wave! What BS!

Anyway, like the title says...Typical HD rider!

I know privateer and edgecrusher won't be this way...
