Here is how I look at a speed event. Say the speed of sound, or the speed of light is an event. I'd apply that theory as having an arm out of the window of a speeding car. I could see a palm up position is in that pipe and is restricting the speed of flow out of that pipe. By removing the baffle, the speed event made the crank move faster. This will cause the event to cycle the strokes sooner.
The Good the Bad and the Ugly:
1. As mentioned, baffles out is a GOOD way to use this extra HP for top speed closed course kind of riding.
2. The change in pressure hurts low rpm grunt for the street so this is BAD for darting from fenders anshit.
3. Doing yourself a disfavor if street is mostly the riding area and UGLY; for neighbors and fuz will rebel.
