Oil light and hot temp gauge
03/09/14 2:52 PM

Ok so after i put the modifications on Madonna I rode her for the 1st time yesterday. She sounds great and rides great. However, after riding for only about 20 mins after coming to a red light stop my oil light came on and i noticed my temperature said HI.. I pull off and while im riding the oil light goes off and temp goes down but its still high at an average of 215 to 225 degrees. When i stop again same thing the oil light comes on and the temp gauge said HI again. After getting to my destination i check all my hoses and fluid levels and no leaks and fluid levels seem to b fine. I ride home and same thing. When I put my mods on I changed my oil and also flushed the coolant out with distilled water and refilled it with Engine Ice like i did my 09 per Rooks tutorial(Didnt have any problems with my 09.) There are no leaks. I tripled checked. Dont know if the engine ice hasnt circulated thru out the whole bike or what. Bike runs fine. It definitely was not actually overheating. It rides perfect. Any1 know whats wrong and how to fix it?? Thx

Did you notice if your fan was running? Check all the electrical connections in the areas you were working in. Or maybe you just have air in the system?

Since the bike rode to circulate the coolant, what level is the radiator at now? Catch tank depleted some as it drew more water in? Purge the lower line as you have the radi cap off. See if the level lowered, squeezing the hose raises the coolant some? Since the coolant settled out... now that it's circulated and cold meaning, did you recheck at the radi cap, not the catch tank? Pull a side cover if need be.

The feeding of water [when changing coolant] is to squeeze the lower hose until you have arm pump. That should push coolant into everything and purge the air out. This is my guess on the last thing you did scenario. So if you just poured not purged as you pump&pour...

Oil level. This is a stand the bike upright on both wheels and check the level in the window. Since it's on the side stand now, have someone look at it fill the window as you upright it. Did you pour oil into the new filter?... Old race trick

Fuse would call attention to the dash... If I have this right... Fan is tied to the water temp sensor. Blow a fuse, the temp bar will flash. Pull a fuse and see if the dash comes on with some sort of code? This is diagnosing trivia. Who flashes and what fuse ties in with the water/fuel/ign/etc.

Yes i poured a little into the filter. I remember that was an old trick. Im a double check my coolant
hoses again.

the fans will switch on around 94.
it may be as simple as an air lock.
did you let all air bleed out before capping it again.

Get on it....

Problem fixed.. not sure what i did to fix it tho. It was my fan. B4 i rode it today i double checked all connections and hoses and even pulled the fuse (which was good). After all that i rode for about 20 mins which was longer than the other day b4 the over heat light came on... and i was good. The fan was running fine and temp gauge stayed normal. May the coolant didnt circulate thru the entire bike.. or mayb i did have a lose wire connection and i tightend it when i was double checked everything. I honestly dont know. What i do know is Madonna is now ready to roll.. Im still breaking her in tho so isnt ready ready yet. Only 250 miles on her so far. Thx for every1s input on this probably.

Air pocket. The fan wont switch on with an air pocket. Air doesn't conduct heat. I played hell with my old 2007 ZX14 changing out the coolant. Same crap!!
