Coxy's Trip Report
12/15/13 2:04 AM

Hi guys,

Just got back from a 3,500km trip over 5 days, absolutely enjoyed riding through the twisty hills in the northern part of Thailand. My Blaze panniers purchased from Twisted Throttle worked a treat. The panniers are easy to use, very solid at high speeds, didn't even feel like I had them on. I got up to 160-170mph at some parts and the bike was planted. You do need the 3M clear plastic sticker provided as without them your side panels will need a new paint job. Be careful when taking them off as I let them hang while removing and marked my expensive akrapovic titanium exhaust. The SW motech quick lock tank bag worked really well too, efficient, lots of space, easy to remove when re-fueling. However I noticed two lines running both sides of the gas cap which was probably caused by vibration but they should come off with some polish.

My brake upgrade kit is brilliant, no fading, consistent feel and so much stopping power, highly recommended setup to anyone out there. I had to adjust the fork compression though as the bike was diving a little more than what I was used to. The ZX-14 just ticks all of my boxes, comfortable, fast, handles well, reliable and stunning!! Can't wait for the next trip.

I never realized that Thailand was large enough so that you could find 3500km or roads to ride. I guess they are plenty twisty! Awesome!

So, I was watching the Travel channel last nite, and one show I saw is "Dont Drive Here".

This weeks feature is Bangkok, Thailand. The host of the show was required to take a week's worth of riding instruction, and then at the end of the 7 days, demonstrate that he could ride a motorcycle well enough to "keep up" with a professional cycle driver.

He had 2 days of total riding experience at his first day on the job...

He rode, I think, 7 different vehicles during the week: scooters, "tak tak", delivery cycles, taxi, etc.

...all in downtown Bangkok.

Very amusing how many times he should've died out there (It's the cycle fatality capital of the world: 30 cyclist per day die).

You should have seen this guys face sweat... He crashed during the final "test", for attempting to "keep up" with the pro (a taxi driver on a cycle, they are all cycle drivers). After that, he rode it to the road side, and said "I'm Done".

Coxy: You are one brave dude, or crazy...

nice report coxy, thanks.
what areas were you travelling through?
big bikes are not too common there so id say you caused a rumble in the jungle alright! :)
also fair play to you riding in full leathers in the heat when many would be tempted to dress down!
