The Latest Green Whale
11/18/18 3:04 PM

Went to the Long Beach IMS today and saw the 2019 ZX14R. Beautiful sparkle green and black model.

Somehow KHI succeeded in making the 2019 14R look like a Busa but what really surprised me was its fat ass. The "spec " bloated" mass was 593 lbs, WTF were they thinking. After I saw the fat ass mass I didn't even want to take a picture. No wonder many 14 drivers are talking about getting lighter weight bitches to slap around.

Yeah.Nice Kawasaki pics on their site.I see that reshape on the back there. It's not bad IMO.BUT where the hell they get an additional weight from?Certainly not that?Like the colors.Pinstriping.Nice.I don't really like that emeral blazed green though.I was a bit disappointed seeing that color on the H2SE last year.It just doesn't have the same pop as the Gold Blazoned Green.Silly, but one reason I lost interest in it back then.(guess it would be this year earlier).I tried to like that color. It just wasn't gonna do it for me.Thank God they didn't use that on my H2!I might have waited.

Doesn't look to bad but I'd have to see it in person before passing final judgement, Kawasaki would have done a much better job if they redesigned the exhaust instead of the rear end. I'm planning to go to the bike show in NYC next Friday so I should get a chance to checkout all the 2019 Kawasaki's. According to Kawasaki's webpage both the 2018 and 2019 weigh the same 593 lbs.

I can't tell what redesign you guys are talking about. I compared Kawi's stock pics fro '17 - '19 on their site and from the front quarter view they look identical. Where's the change?

In fact, if you open any 2 of these in separate browser windows and then toggle back and forth using alt-tab (in Windows), I'm 100% sure they've used the 2017 pics and simply photoshopped the different graphics, and moved the Kawi logo down 1/2" from 2017 to 2018 but everything is identical. Otherwise, how could the spokes be in the exactly the same location for 3 straight years?!! And every reflection is in the same spot. Even the tire tread is in the same location.

I think I notice the cowl is going further back.My 2013,the cowl doesn't quite cover the very rear plastic where the taillamp lens is at.2019 looks like it does.

The one I saw at the Shlong Beach IMS looked lower and fatter to me, my first thought or impression was "it looks like a Busa"

Maybe look at a profile pic...that angled one doesn't reveal much.

I was wondering the same thing. I see no difference at all at least in the photos I have seen. If there is a difference let’s see a photo showing so.

I looked at some pics a few days ago...they showed a rear shot from somewhere. It did look wider and flatter...not by much.I didn't have a comparo pic...so I really can't say it is for certain. But Crude says it is...that's good enough. It does appear slightly longer(the cowl)in a couple of pics I saw.The way it was 'covering' the plastic piece on the tail.

I was at the motorcycle show in NYC yesterday and spoke with the Kawasaki representative who stated there are no changes to the 2019 ZX14R. I also asked about future upgrades/improvements and was told at this time Kawasaki is not working on any redesign, changes or improvements for the ZX14R. Their efforts will be focused on the H2SX which I guess makes sense since there's more of a profit margin built into the H2SX.
