Insurance Providers
04/05/13 3:53 PM

Gentlemen,
Ontarians,
Led me your ears...

I claimed one at-fault accident (we got cut off, I swerved to save everyone in our vehicle) and hit a curb, causing major damage. No vehicles involved, just my car and a curb that destroyed the axel and tore up the front. I calimed an at-fault. I have two speeding tickets (10 over, no demerit points).

Because of this (two tickets, one at fault) my insurance provider sees me as high risk, actually all insurance providers do. Lowest I could find,
Liabiity only 2200 for the year, ie if I am at fault, or bike is tipped over or stolen I get zero!
Full Peril and upset, including theft 3500 a year.
If I bail early on the policy they keep 40%

When my ten over falls off in August, TD Primum gave me a quote, full coverage (liability and all peril) 1400. This is on August 20th of this year. Almost at the end of the season.

I could wait till August to put her on the road, or if anyone of you good folks know of an insurance provider that you would refer me too, that would not financially abuse me, that would just about save my life...

I have called
State Farm,
Riders Plus
Jevco
Unifund
Johnson
all above 5000 and some have listed the 14 on a no coverage list...I'm an outlaw and didn't even know it!

I am 40 and been riding since 28.
Thems the facts...

That sucks Wolf.
I guess if I was in your shoes I would do the $2200.00 Lia only and just be extra careful. Drive it the season, and then next season go for the TD @ $1400.00. I know the 14 is pretty much at the top of all bikes as far as insurance goes. For me the 14 was the same price as a 1000cc super sport. I'm 37 no accidents ever, and clean record. I had my m2 years ago and let it lapse after I got married. I just got it again 2 years ago and plan to get my full "M" either this year or next, though I'm told the M2 and M insure at the same rate..??
Good luck with your search dude. I heard talk that the prov. gov't was trying to get something instilled that forced insurance companies to give us all a 20% cut in insurance - not sure when and if this is going to go through, but if you look at what American's pay compared to us... it's a bloody joke.... and that's no joke!

Ouch Dude! That hurts.

You can try:

Mantha Insurance
Nordic Insurance Company of Canada
Facility

Not all SF Quotes will be the same. That being said, give Renata Midura a call at (905) 817-0400. Haven't used her personally but a few people have gotten decent rates from her with less than stellar driving records.

Good Luck Man! Keep us posted.

Clean record, (one cell phone ticket), no claims/accidents etc....My quote is 1900 and change, full coverage etc. I think the quote includes collision, so I may be able to reduce it some. (statefarm)....the bandit is 650 bucks a year for full coverage....I guess it's a buck a cc....more or less.
My statefarm quote is from an agent in Hamilton, the previous owner used them.

Dave, I'm giving her a call first thing Monday morning, I'll let you know how it goes...I had a run in with two asshole cops that ticketed me for ten over, while I was doing twenty over. Was amazed they even bothered to pull me over, but I was living in Barrie and, at that time, there was a clamp down on street racing. And I had a lowered VDub GTI with tint, spoilers and 19inch rims. It took all the will power I had not to fat lip em, but whatever. I fought them two, they made me wait until asshole showed up. So I bit it and paid the fine. Hind sight is twenty/twenty. Now when I'm in the cage, I drive like a granny. Cops here in York Region have been really decent though! I sold the GTI and now I have a VDubb SUV, maybe that was the secret? Who knows?

Beast, if I don't get a lower rate I am going with basic liability and just pray it does not get into an accident. I have my home alarmed with wireless alarms on garage door, disk locks, U lock and a metal anchor in the concrete floor attached to a thick Pit bull chain. I'm not worried about her getting taken from my garage, it's just parking it at work that worries me. I've got the bike alarmed, but you know what they say, it's when you don't have insurance, when...

I'll let you know how it goes, one way or another, I am on the road in May!
Cheers boys,
W

Wfox14,
Foxy, just out of curiousity my man, if I register it under another person's name, how does that help lower insurance, I am still a rider on it, and I am the "high risk" licensed operator.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that would be good to know - open mind - options open...

Beast it just occured to me that the M2 and M might insure at a different rate. I have had, about 10 quotes this season from insurance companies, I am ALWAYS asked if I have my full M or my M2 and they ask how long I've had it. Once you pick up that full M, I'd double check with the carrier to see if you get a break. I just read the amount you pay for insurance - above 2000 (that's bananas on a clear record). Is that full peril and liability so all comprehensive?
Talk soon Beast,
M

Yeah Wolf, that's everything. Full coverage. I will find out if it will go down with the full M. I was planning on getting it next year with a friend of mine, but I may change it to this year if it means cheaper insurance next season. Maybe i'll just book it for this summer and get it over with.

Dude, book it this summer and get it over with, truly! Financial benefit or no, get it done. I get a huge kick though that many riders doing the M2 exit will show up on a 500 or 600. My boy Beast is showing up on a K14, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I just love that man! Can't wait hear back about the look you get from the examiner! True choice, bro, can't wait!

You going to do the Ministry Exit, or the course route?

If your doing the course, I can't wait to hear how the group will repond to the Beast on the Beast!

Lol, never thought of it that way... he he
Oddly enough, you know as well as I the lowspeed manners of the 14 are bloody awesome.
Truly very well balanced bike, with it's weight down low.
I have full confidence doing it on my bike.
Been riding for years, so shouldn't be a problem.

Just to restate the above post, I know you confident and capable, but I can see all the newbies on their low displacement cycles and Beastman shows up on the most powerful bike in production history. It's novel worthy man, and definately something I'd love to watch.

Gentlemen, my search for insurance has ended. State farm will not insure me with 2 minor speeding and on accident. So back to the plain liability drawing board. They did say they'd give me a great rate in August.
Let that be a lesson. What you do in the cage influences your rates on the bike. Ouuuch!

Sorry to hear. At least august isn't too far away. I hate the rates we pay.

Hey boys,
I am going to put liability on it, but the company I am using is aweful...There may be a chance they do not insure it. Fingers crossed.
