You saw a few of the great mountain roads that we have here in Colorado. I myself rode up to Miller Motorsports Park for the weekend to watch a friend race there. Sorry I wasn't around to meet up with ya... -bg

Knee Brass kEy is it? Key word brings to mind 'one shivering horror,' if one tiny mistake happened. Die tell you about the, 440 Dodge Charger with 5 guys in it? Lincoln to Beatrice is flat corn/wheat miles of straight road. We all pitched inn for a weekend rental get away from college; there was a large, two story house in Lincoln, Neb.

All I remember was the owner of the car with his watch, clocking off the miles; me averaging over 100mph with all that humanity ready for instant CARnage! I do not know how I got away with what I've done with myself and a speed obsession, way back then till now; which is still going on...

Need pics ninjamaster!! That sounds like an awesome trip. Do you have a radar detector? Or would that even work in mountainous twisties?

Workin' on the pix.The radar detector worked great.I always keep my speed a little under warp.I got poped probably 4-5 times and I was over by 10-15 and they never turned around. But I'll give up one secret,I did get a ticket in Utah I passed an unmarked in a passing zone and he must not of had a radar cuz the detector never went off.He followed my for a couple of turns to pace me.And me thinkin' I pissed someone off turned the throttle a little more Well he turned on the lites and I found a good place to pull over.He got me for 75 in a 55.He ended up knocking it down to a 64 in a 55 because,His words, looked like I was taking the corners good and found a good place to turnoff!
He didn't say anything about me passing him at 80mph when I did.

What model detector do you use? After 600 buckolas in tickets and court costs I need to do something... slowing down or getting a slower bike aren't very realistic options for the long term.

Hey Ninjamaster-question about yer detector.I think I REALLY need one.The 8500-looks like an excellent unit-what kind of power cord do you have with yours(optional?).The cigarette connector won't work for me-unless I install a fitting for it-which I'd rather not do.But I do have a Batterytender pigtail connected to my battery, and it's got the metal round post, and the black plastic female end(in the same plug).Any advice on the connectors? Also,it says it comes with the suction cups for the windshield mount-will these work for us(and where did you mount yours?)Thanks Ninja-glad yer ride was just AWESOME('cept fer that ticket)(I got another one too-don't feel too bad).As a sidenote-HOW did you manage 40-45 mpg?Stock gearing?

This is how I got my set up.I did it this way so I could switch it easily from my 6r,10r and 14.The wire for the screamer and detector are hard wired into the bike off the taillight wire in t he back. They recommend that it be on a keyed switch.

Actually I put the gloves over it It's amazing on the gas milage, cruising around 75-85 I'm only turning 3800-4200rmp(stock gearing).I know when I got the PC mapped a few years ago I gained 3-5 mpg after they were done(Bikeshack in Bozeman).I want to get up there and recheck it.

Thanks Ninjamaster-ahhh-the old "gloves over the detector" trick-gotcha Gonna get one Friday-it WILL mount inside the windshield, down in that point, right?(with the suction cups?)(above the cluster there?)And another question-can it detect behind as well with you sitting on the bike-lots of radars up here can clock you from behind as well, while you're BOTH going the same direction.Dumb question here-BUT.........when you DO get a radar hit on your detector,do you IMMEDIATELY slow by applying brakes and closing throttle? Will this tactic save you?Or are you already "hit" with no hope of "escaping".

I average 16Km/Litre which is 10Miles per litre and I think that works out to 10 x 4.5 = 45 ish MPG as well. This is on a long trip going 'downhill' in SA. That means coming from altitude to the coast. Going 'uphill' it is about 14.5 Km/Litre, which is approx. 9 M/litre = 40 Mpg. General cruising speed 130-160 Km/H (90 MPH). The Busas are even lighter. Something interesting. US and UK gallons are different. US gallons is 3.78 litres and UK gallon is 4.54 litres. So, in US I would also get 37 MPG and UK 45 MPG. Interesting.

16/42 gearing speedohealed

Sorry but, what does this exactly mean ?

And, talking about cheap driving. Am i right about : Getting PC u will be driving more on less gallons? And if you pull you're flies out, i guess driving is more expensive again?

16/42 is gearing.......front and back sprockets. The stock gearing is 17 teeth on the front sprocket and 41 teeth on the back sprocket so 16/42 is one down front, one up back. Much more power, but a little less top speed. I would imagine you could stil do over 160 with 16/42. You can just do the front sprocket and achieve half the result. That is what I plan to do and maybe go 1 or 2 up in back later on.

The map (fuel management program) loaded on your PC will determine how much petrol you burn. You can get them for performance or for economy. You can even have both and switch between them on the fly if you install a toggle switch to your handle bar. PCV can hold 3 maps. Get the PC LCD and that can hold a whole bunch o' maps if you want.

Flies out should have no effect on gas consumption as the fuel/air is still determined by the bikes computer. Once you get a map for flies out, then you might see some increase in gas use on the '06-'07 14s. The G2s are mapped very rich all across the powerband so I bet most maps actually trim back on fuel at most rpm. I have flies out on my G2. It's really not a big performance gain. I have noticed no increase in fuel use and I even ride it more agressively after flies out. The gas use and performance change flies out was minimal before and after mapping. The map improved smoothness, however.

Ya, it would be pretty much the same thing almost - I don't know if you could map to really cut the torque a great deal without making the bike run like crap at the same time. Generally tuners try to map to maintain or increase power as much as they can rather than diminish it. But I would imagine you might be able to make a map to get less torque like Suz does with their power selector switch.

BTW, "speedohealed" refers to the Speedohealer. That is an electronic mod primarily used to correct your speedometer. The stock speedometer reads about 9% higher than true speed but that is not too big of a dif just to keep track of by yourself without using a Speedohealer. When people go to different gearing on their sprockets that really Fs up the speedo reading a huge amount so it is nice to have a Speedohealer to correct what the speedo for you. Also, a speedohealer can be set to over-correct the speedometer reading as a way of overriding the 14's top speed limiter. The top speed limiter will not let you do over 186-187mph. It cuts the engine like a rev limiter. Also may make the bike run on very low power until the system resets its self. Well, if you set your speedohealer to make your speedometer read 50 mph when you are actually doing 100, you should be able to actually be going 200 when the speedometer reads 100. So you trick your bike into thinking it's going much slower than it is in order to prevent it from limiting your top speed. You prob can't do much more than 187 actual mph with a stock bike anyway. The speedometer will go to 200 but remember it is reading +9%.

Matsuke, I have this strange feeling that i am corrupting you. Sorry.

Sounds like a amazing trip. Can't wait to see some pics.
Food for thought.
With my gearing and stock % off I had the speedo buried, GPS said 176, never saw the limiter.
