I thought I would pass this on.
I just got back from an 1877 mile ride from Ohio to Robbinsville, NC. I left on the 2nd and got back on the 7th. The only comfort mods I have are Genmar risers and a put on a 2012 Concours seat right before I left. Drive time and miles are, by google 6 hrs 14 mins / 375 miles, and that was counting the drive time to get through the Dragon to get to Robbinsville.
The ride was as good as it could have been for riding on interstate the whole way. We planned taking back roads all the way but figured 10 hours on an untested bike/rider combination was not a good option at that point, and we only rode interstate on the way back because by friend pulled a back muscle and he was in pain, so we hauled ass back to Ohio... in fact we dropped about an hour off our return trip. ;)
We averaged about 200 miles a day. Some were more. The only complaints I had about me are, my neck and throttle wrist was sore to the touch, but only one particularly long day. I do my best to keep weight off my wrists but I guess I failed that night.
As for the bike, while on the Dragon unless I was hanging off the side the bike really fought me to stand up. If I leaned off even just the smallest amount (and I stopped fighting it) the 14 just slung around the corners. FYI, riding the Dragon with wet roads, not so much fun.
I can say the Cherohala was a frigging blast! I disliked that road on my VTX but loved it on the 14. I was making myself proud. I wasn't dragging knee but I was moving. And to append that thought, if you go to that area of the world, go the week after Memorial day during the week. I think we saw 2 cops the whole time, but on the way out on Friday around noon we saw 5, and 3 were heading into the deals gap.
I will attach some pics, just to prove I was there :)
