Sat on new VFR1200
05/15/10 12:56 AM

I don't expect anyone to agree with me on this but. I saw the new VFR at the dealer the other day at first thought it was a 1000RR so I sat on it. Man it felt good bar reach was perfect me at 6' tried the foot pegs just right no cramping. I thought this can't be a liter bike so I gave it a second look. Sure enough a shaft drive. You know if it had the similar acceleration of the 14 me like. I know the styling is subjective but I like the look of the new Hondas. I like the smooth front end and the new light set up. I really like the idea of shaft drive. Anyway it's about 14 to 15K so calculating my bikes worth south of 5K at trade probably I had to leave.
So that's my story of betrayal to the 14 please throw rocks or something.

I think they look good too. $ is what keeps me away.

I really need to see one in person, I think they look great. Engineering and build quality is said to be top notch. But it is too hard to justify 16k when I already have the ZX, maybe in a few years I'll look for a used one.

Re-read a review of the bike it has some negatives small gas tank like 4.4 gal thereabouts and some engine vibrations. But the concept is good a shaft drive that doesn't weigh 650-700 lbs.

The VFR 1200 looks nice.
At first blush, looking at the right side of the VFR 1200, it looked like a BMW.

I'm a fan of belt drives with polymer pulleys.
If only I could get a belt drive for my ZX-14.

The seat on the VFR 1200 has some unique design features.

I was awaiting the new VFR with high expectations, but I am quite disappointed, mostly die to it's looks.
BTW, has anyone listened to some sound clips posted on Youtube? Sounds like crap, truly.
Nothing even close to the sweet sound of the previous 750/800 VFR's.

I went to the shop today and sat on one again and I really think it is actually not to bad looking. I noticed there was a flap in the exhaust flap that appears to open and close depending on the rev range of the motor. I think the shaft drive single sided swingarm is pretty sexy. I think if it had similar power to the 14 and was priced the same, it would definitely sell a lot more.

CoolWhip thanks for the link to the article pretty good material. Honda usually makes really sweet bikes and cars just not enough power. I mean they have built winning formula 1 race cars.
