^^Same here. I go for 89 as long as the air is cool because I believe the lower octane is cleaner for the fuel system. When the weather gets hot, I go with premium (93+ octane) more often because midgrade or regular will tend to ignite unspent fuel in the exhaust on a hot day. Premium is a lot less likely to do that.
Regular?? I've run it but i really don't trust it now that I can hear how much popping can go on with the stockers gone. Wouldn't want that to ever happen inside the motor. I don't feel there is much performance benefit to low octane gas. It should burn better but not enough to make that much extra power.

With the Dyno-Jet Ignition Module install, Ivan recommends 93. I use 91 most of the time as 93 is not available in Toronto. We have only one company that sells 94 and it is never there when you need it. All is good. Nothing Bad to report. I would be interested to know if any one has ever heard a ping or any kind of spark knock with our bikes? The 14 seems to respond quite well to the mods.

87 is perfectly fine for a stock zx14, i ran 89 in mine with 13.5:1 compression.
In fact, i'm going to run 89 in my 1570cc 13.5:1 c.r. motor when i ride it on the street.
You do not have to run 93 octane. You don't have to run any additives.

KAK in reply about the 89 it seems to have better snap and power throughout the rev range. More ignition advance and higher octane either one is giving faster burn for more power. Which one is cheaper? I think 89 octane. Our premium is usually 91 or 92 I believe.
