hey guys was installing my fender eliminator kit and noticed a cable about 4" long attached to a bolt by the rear brake fluid res.?? it is looped on both end with the end not attached to bolt just hanging there???????????anybody know what this is for????????????????

I forgot I even had that thing. I removed the helmet lock on the frame.

Speaking of that...how much do you think the cable weighs?

My 2012 doesn't have the cable, but it has hooks on both sides of the bike just forward of where your cable is mounted. Glad I read this thread, I couldn't figure out how to lock my helmet tot he bike and was going nuts. Finally I broke out the owner's manual and found the helmet lock. Imagine that, all I had to do was read the manual... first time that's ever happened.

The gen1 has a lock at the bottom edge (not under, that's the seat lock) of the back of the riders seat. you lock your helmet to that and it hangs over the frame. I'm sure the gen2 has the same setup. The cable is designed to make it more difficult to cut the strap and steal the lid...or so that it won't bang around if you carry an extra lid there.
