SaddleSore 1000

This has been on my bucket list for several years...I'll be doing my first Iron Butt ride this coming Sat./Sun. (March 9/10). My buddy and I are doing an in-state "4 corners" SaddleSore 1000 with no interstate...route shows to be 1018 miles, ride time @20 hours, and total time of @ 22 hours. I'll be on the '14, and he's riding a '12 FZ1.

Should be fun! :)

I did my first SS1k on my ZX14 but mine was all Interstate. Technically I did 2 of them. I rode 1k miles one way and then rode 1k miles back two days later. It was fun and I'm glad I did it, but I didn't want to do it again for a while.
lol.

All I can say is more power to you. I get saddle sore when I am in the seat much over 80 miles in one sitting. A friend of mine did his first iron butt on a busa. He rode from N.C. to Florida, ate lunch, and back again. The most I have ever ridden in one day is about 450-500 miles.

Wow, your a better man than I if you pull it off, My personal best is 1035 miles on a FJ1200 coming back from Datona, all interstate and slightly more than 24 hours.

I've done several 12+ hour / 600+ miles days...and several of those were coming back from Bike Week on a VFR, so I should be good for this one. I'll be rested up and have a blue-tooth with some tunes, instead of nursing a 5 day hangover with only 3 hours sleep the entire week. :)

A few friends and myself did this ride in November. It was about 21 hours total.

With the stock seat I usually get to 500-600 miles before the bum really starts to hurt. I bought a cheap Gel car seat and threw it over the 14's seat and used it for the Saddle Sore. Had zero problems getting to just over 1000 miles.

Key points on making this happens is keep your stops short. Only for gas and rest up there. No heavy meals at your stops. Coffee helped me, but any caffeinated drink will do.

Good luck and have fun!

Awesome. I just got back from 1600 miles but that was over 4 days. A good seat goes a long way for being comfy. I have a Corbin and wouldn't be without it.

Hey good luck man! Have a blast......I'm getting ready to head out to Georgia then hit NC and TN. The first day is 820 miles.....We don't really call it an iron butt because all of our rides are at least 750 to 850 the first day and about 2500 miles total over four days....I wonder where amount would be considered an Iron Butt???
