SUP guys! Been out of the loop for a while - been busy with family stuff and messing around with the ZX10R I bought earlier this year. Also been piddling around with the idea of buying a S1000R - checked it out real seriously this past time home during Thanksgiving! Nice ass bike for sure! I hope that you guys have all been well and riding safe - back in A'stan now and still wondering why I came back! But, things are winding down now so I will soon be able to chase the dream back home! Anyhoo - just wanted to say HI to all of you guys and let you know that I am still lurking! Later!

Hey bigwilliezx, if you really like the S1KRR I say go for it...Its a great bike, Plenty fast and handles great.
My only pet peeve with it is that it feels more like a big 600 than a liter bike, not really much going on bellow 9K rpms but once she gets there hang on brother because its brutal.
If you can get your hands on the upcoming 13 HP4 with all the bells and whistle's, then you'll be a happy camper for sure, good luck and please keep us posted.

Willie...when you get back hit me up and I'll let you take a close look and spin on my S1000RR. It is a great bike and there is plenty of torque just past 5K for the 2012's and up with an additional tooth and some fueling changes for more midrange.
Nice 10R BTW. Been looking at those too!

Thanks guys! I will do my best to stay safe, as we ALL do (I hope!) Good to hear that you are all still ridin' right side up! Jagman - thanks bud! I won't be home again until March, I will hit you up then! Sparky - I dunno about the HP4, I would love to get my hands on one, but it's just a pipe dream, the "plain" S100RR is within my reach though! I have room in my garage still for one or two more bikes though, so I hope that the 14 and the 10 will a new garage mate within the year. Sooner if I can find a deal on a 2012. Just working on savin' the dough, I won't pull the trigger until it can be fully paid for on the day I bring one home.

Nice bikes Will.

You might consider trading the new 10 in on a 2011 10r instead of going S1000. Get the Austin racing system on the 10r. Gonna be a little bit sharper bike IMHO.

Rook - I went thru and checked out the 10R also, but I know a couple of guys with them that were at the BMW dealers when I got there looking at the S1000RR! His is flashed and piped and he says he's not hangin' with the Beemer. Not sure how they stack up head to head myself though, but from all I hear, the 10R has to have it's bits and pcs tweeked before it's at it's full potential and it still gives a little away to the Beemer. Is this true?

I can only tell you from my experience but yes, without a doubt my 2011 S1K RR is the fastest production bike I've ever owned.
I also did the usual mods Kyle racing Full Titanium Exhaust PV5 and BCM filter, it dint matter what i was going up against once that thing hit 9K it was like it got a shot of Nitrous.. it would just reel them in and fly by, no speed limiter on that monster either lol.

I rode her at Barber a few times and it was a blast, you'll enjoy it for sure.

What's up Big! It's been a while! I was starting to think you lied to us and was a member of Seal Team 6 or something. You went dark for a while! lol

I'm looking at the S Thou myself. This is the bike of the decade in my opinion and I won't be able to explain to my children why I didn't own one. lol
I won't be ready until next fall (saving for a house too) but the 2012 tricolor has my name all over it.
I heard the same on the street: Even with the flash the 10R is still behind. It makes sense because they get full power in Europe but people still praise the Beemer is terms of sheer acceleration. I have most of the mods already done (in my head) and I'd have to go with the Austin Racing ARR 22 full system. 200 HP and huge gains in the mid. They use Inconel which is better than Ti.

@SparkyG: you guys need to stop with those pics, you're killing me.

Is this true?

Wilie I know you weren't asking me, and I don't known for sure but Kruz and I have ridden with his Gen4 ZX-10R and my 12 S1000RR and in the real world, there ain't no giving anything up from one to the other. We never did any head to head quarter mile runs, 2nd gear roll on's or top end side by side blasts, but I can assure you the 10R is FAST and a great bike. I've seen videos of the 10R pulling away from the Bimmer at top end, which has to a be a flashed ECU, cause on paper the BMW has the ZX-10R by about 10HP but only at the VERY TOP. So we're talking about full top end advantages. Neither are roundly applauded for midrange, ala the CBR 1000, but do believe the Zed 10 gets more of a licking on that area from the reviewers, although having ridden it hard, I did not feel ANY difference in mid range performance between the two bikes. Torque and HP lines do show that somewhat I think though.
Even if the BMW did walk away from the 10R it would only be at WOT top end. It's just not a place that gets used on the street very often if you value your license. It's just too risky to do it time and time again and I've done it more than I should. I rode an 08 Honda CBR yesterday and was blown away as to how fun that bike was to ride having never ridden one before. I now get what all the fuss about the venerable Fireblade is all about! Felt like my 14R in the torque/mid range band.

ALL GREAT Ideas guys!!! I definitely will check out the 10R even though it's not as fast as the Beemer, I am a brand loyalist and Kawi is near and dear to my heart! But I think it might be time to put a Beemer in the garage! Just as soon as I finish saving the scratch!

Jagman - yup, I was asking you becuz I knew you and Kruz had done some riding together. Thanks for the info!

^^^ Show off lol

Yup DK - my sentiments exactly! I wish I had the space and the cash for every bike I've ever wanted! Maybe when I win the Powerball!

Sparky - how's that Panigale ride? Been pretty interested to get the know from someone who actually lives with one, but haven't gotten to get that lucky with being gone so much from home.

Coot/Kofla - thanks bud! I try to stay as safe as possible over here - so far so good. It got a little heated over here during the summer months, I think the Taliban caught a sale on mortar rounds cuz they were hittin us pretty hard and often. And they got in a couple of huge hits at two bases over here a lot of good people got hurt or worse. But it's cooled down a bit since.

I hope you all stay right side up and enjoy this great sport of ours to the fullest courtesy of the sacrifices made by our Nation's finest! Stay safe!

DK - I just checked out RideSmart's website and it has that the registration for COTA is closed already on the 1,2 of June! You already got ur bid in? Not sure if I will be home then, to far out to tell right now. They don't have their 2013 schedule fully posted, so I hope that they have compatible dates for other tracks in my area. I am definitely getting in there next year. I should have the 10R pretty well sorted out by then.
