Two Brothers exhaust
11/30/13 8:01 AM

Took my 14r for it's 600mi service yesterday and while it was up there, let the mechanic put on the pipes( think he charged like $25.00).It was late when he got done so just rode it home but I notice at idle at the redlight and taking off in 1st it's fairly loud but in 2nd from about 2.5k rpms up it sounds pretty good.I got the blk series aluminum and I don't think it looks too bad.I'll post a picture later if I can figure out how.I told him to just snip the wires at the servo motor like I did my n1k but he said no wires to cut so I guess there's no servo motor or if there is, it's before the pipe joints.Highway speeds sound great but taking off in 1st doesn't sound like my n1k and to me,not that great.Anyone looking at the TB's might want to keep that in mind.I'm riding today so I'll see if the sound grows on me lol.

Thanks Wolf, just a little louder at idle than I expected.I listened to them in the shop and was surprised. He shut it off to let it down off the lift and I went back out to the showroom floor.Few minutes later I could here him start it back there behind two closed doors and me on the far side of the showroom lol.I'm sure they'll definitely get draw some attention.

Fieldgrade,

I for one am not a big fan of the Two Brothers sound, to each his own......they do make inserts to help quiet them down, maybe for you....

I had two bros. titanium slip ons on mine and swapped them out for Akrapovic CF. I loved the sound of the two bros with exception of a wicked drone at cruising speed. I got a lot more complements on the sound of the two bros, but the CF Akrapovics are a lot nicer looking on my black bike in my opinion. Two Brothers seem to be great quality, I'm sure they'll serve you well for many years.

They don't sound too bad on the n1k so thought they'd sound about the same on the 14r but they don't.Hard to explain but kind of a "raw" sound to them that sorta annoys me when I start out in 1st.Left the hardware about an hour ago and some woman nearly ran over me (I was going out the entrance and she was coming in) and took up the whole da** driveway on my side.Caused me to run over part of the curb, pissed me off so when I got on the highway I twisted the throttle pretty hard in 1st-3rd.I will admit that sounded pretty good lol, just glad the law wasn't around to see that idiot stunt.I didn't know they would be this loud and they attract the attention of everybody and their cousin.I'll check on those inserts as well as a power commander to maybe stop some of that popping on decel.Shoulda put the extra $$ toward the Brock's.From 3rd gear up they sound good,it's just mainly 1st and low rpms in second. Also standing behind the bike idling there's enough "wind" from the exhausts to blow a cap off your head.

Hey man i have them om my 2012 zx14. They have a reall deep growl and do seem loud at start up and also a heavy drone at cruzing speeds....I did get the db1 sound tips and man what a diffrence, actually peped up the low end a lil bit and got ride of most of the deciel pop. The sound more like the yosi's at idle but still have that dep growl when on the gass. You can get the db1 sound tips and bolts in diffrent colors also. i fot tha anodized green ones...

Find something that breathes good (muzzy) and looks good (muzzy) and sounds good (muzzy). If you can hear it through 2 doors and a showroom should keep you safe on the street, get what I'm saying?!

Full Muzzy, flies out,K&N, black wind screen, pc3, pm wheels, blue led gauges and lights, scorpip alarm, roaring toyz kickstand and lowering links, tinted turn sigs.

I would say my Brock's system is louder than everything but a sidewinder. I can't imagine a couple of slip-ons being louder than this. It's only one 10" glass pack ha ha.

I'm not that dissatistied with the sound,it's just loud.Started it around lunch to let it warm up,came in the house to put on my boots, helmet etc and heard a vibration and thought something had vibrated loose on the bike.Opened the storm door and that was what was vibrating, the glass in the door.I thought (and this may be the problem) I had read somewhere that someone stated that their TB's were not loud enough. If I did read that I don't know what kind of sound level they're after. The main thing for me is they draw WAY too much attention. The baffle tips will be ordered tomorrow for sure.My n1k is dual exhaust and no where near this sound level so possible these were not packed correctly at the factory. If the saying "loud pipes save lives" has any merit, I should be good for a 1 sq mile area.People are looking at me a good distance away coming so can't imagine what they're thinking after I go by.

They are thinking (gas motor enthusiasts) what a cool sounding bike! For the squares in our midst they are thinking how obnoxious! The police think, shit this guy has Moded that thing and I should watch him. My opinion, that is exactly why I want it louder and prouder!!! If it keeps me alive - great, but if my bike sounds like a formula car or a set of lit afterburners ALL THE BETTER. My bike is exemplification of me, my attitude and my ride ethic. Which in my case is not silent, detuned or muffled. It's loud! It's RIGHT NOW and it wants to hunt and eat! KaBbbbbbbbom!
Be not concerned!

For me the test of a good exhaust is when I idle the bike in the garage and if the picture frames shake and vibrate in the inside wall of the house, than that sir, is a good exhaust! What I run now does that quite well!!!!

These were to original Two Brothers can which are quiet long.

And these are the modified shorter ones which I pulled off the wreck of B1.

I think the shorter ones look better and they have improved the sound of the bike. The next job is to test both long and short Two brothers can on the Dyno to see what numbers each system can give. Also notice the plates I made up to stop my boot getting fried when I was stopped in traffic.
