insane insurance rates
06/07/14 6:42 AM

I getting ready to purchase another zx and I been looking around for insurance rates. Unfortunately only two companies on found was geico and progressive. And with both companies the average came out to be $600 a month. That's insane. I have a good driving record,I actually have to keep one since I'm a truck driver. But anyway insurance rates like this make me not even want to get a bike

How old are you? Married or single? Do you have a personal cage insured?

State Farm has by far the cheapest motorcycle inurance rates I have ever seen. I have two cars and two bikes, all with full coverage and $250 deductible, one of which is a 2013 14R. I also have a huge umbrella policy that will cover anything that the auto insurance doesn't.

The whole mess costs me less than $175 a month.

I called everyone and found State Farm had the lowest rate for liability and uninsured motorist at $132 a year but AAA had the best rate for full coverage at $399 a year. It pays to shop around.

State Farm thread** I got a 2013 ZX-14R SE full coverage 520.00 a year I had a hit and run in a parking lot at 1000 miles they put new parts on, some were just scratched they replace them, can't beat them right back to new that was a year ago, my new bill I just got didn't go up a dime..I'm 55 yrs old.. funny think state farm was sky high on my vtx1800c and my ins lady told they said because of motor size of 1800cc..I went with progressive 200.00 a yrs..but progressive was 2000.00 on my ZX-14R

I think the rates really drop at 35. I could be wrong, though. I have been riding since earlier than that, and I don't remember anything shocking about my State Farm rates. I have never paid more than a few hundred bucks a year for any bike.

Looks like the OP needs to pick a more...modest...motorcycle.

I'm contemplating a ZX14. My carrier, GEICO, quoted me $889 annually for heavy coverage and $1000 deductible. Then again, I'm 38, have been licensed since I was 15 and have a clean record.

My SV650, which I've had for 13 years, costs me $205 annually with a $500 deductible.

I have Rider Insurance. I have 3 bikes with full collision and comprehensive, unisured/underinsured, stacked... with $500 deductable - 2012 ZX14R($653/yr), 2007 VFR800($220/yr), and 2001 Ducati 748($170/yr). I have 1 bike with just liablilty - a 1988 Suzuki Savage 650 ($680/yr)that my 18 year old daughter rides. Factoring out the Savage (because of an 18 year old rider), the 3 sport bikes cost me about $1k/yr with the multi-bike discount. When I bought the ZX14R, I was shocked at the quotes that I got, some over $2400/yr just for the ZX. If you live in the North East USA, try Rider Insurance, they have been good to me.

If I own and ride the BW II for 5 years, the money I saved on not paying what they want for full coverage will have paid for the bike;
Around $13-1400 per year more than liability.

Just had a quote for my re-newal, £130.00 for a year. 2012 ZZR1400 no mods, 50 years old, 6 years no claims, fully comprehensive insurance. I think we get the better of it over on this side of the pond!
