Gen 2 wheels on Gen 1
11/09/24 1:04 AM

I'm looking at getting a second rear wheel for my zx14 so I can run a track tyre + commuting tyre without too much of a hassle.

I was looking at the parts fiche, and can see there is a difference in size of spacer by 0.5mm on the left side, but otherwise everything is the same.

Can I just swap a rear wheel from a 2012 zx14r straight into a 2011 zx14 without any issues? I'm assuming the rotor is a direct swap over, and then everything else is like for like? Cush drive, spacers, etc.

I would think everything you said would fit, short of the 92152 being the difference. Bearing center collar in the wheel is the same part number so the WM seems the same.

I'm wondering how much of a difference that 0.5mm will make, and whether it's something that can be safely ignored.

I'm inclined just to try it and see what happens.

Na, 5mm is pretty wide. Might be a swing arm change between years. '12 change to a 1441cc. Don't want to stress the swing so as to load and crack down the road. Probably the spacer is the cure for the 5mm. That or a few wide washers.

I read it as 16.5mm vs 16mm, so only a half mm difference. When I get the new wheel I'll throw it in and see how much of a gap there is.

Actually, I've just had a closer look at the parts fiche, and I think all the spacers are identical. There is a 92152 and a 92152A, one is 16mm, one is 16.5mm. Somehow I must have gotten mixed up when looking the first night.

Hopefully I'm not missing anything, but it looks like this should be easy.

There is a swing arm adjustment to the frame. It's not like a steel frame that can afford a little give.
