Today...it's COLD.BUT.....it's CLEAR!Roads look good...good enough to wake baby up and let er rip!No...not today though.If it's like this TOMORROW....it's ON baby!

Naturally,as soon as I think it may be rideable...then everything goes...ka put!Doesn't look too good now for anything but penguins and ducks.

I got to ride my KLR this weekend.The only bike I'm allowed since the deer incident. I haven't ridden any of my sportbikes since September

Tomorrow's forecast here is for highs in the middle 20's, with 4"-5" of snow by mid day. Might be fun for a bit on the dirt bike.

I'm not even thinking about it. the 3 Ss don't mix. Snow , Salt and Speed.
+ I have no sprockets and no chain or back wheel. They are all sitting in the basement. Oh yeah-- no fairings either. MiMi is not going to lift an eyelid for at least 2 months, the old girl. She is getting every inch spit polished. That motor is so clean you could eat off of it. Darned sure better believe I am going to do some cooking when summer comes.

Hey blue is the reason you dont ride, from cold, black ice or just road conditions. always wondered if you can still ride if you had to like only set of wheels or emergency etc.

I rode 190 miles today, it was 60 degrees out and sunny. I am lucky, I live where I can ride year round.

Howdy Ethin...hope yer gettin some rides in!Mainly I won't chance Black Ice.That stuff can appear in a really short time.Get a lot of cold snaps here....just too risky.When I do get out in the cold...I ride on the main highways(two laners anyway).Usually they are safe enough...minimal gravel and a bit "warmer" from traffic.

Only set of wheels...nah,I've got a cage.Emergencies...listen,if things got that bad...I'd ride my bike to whatever...I'd find a way.

Hey runnerhiker want to ship some of that warm weather up to New Hampshire, -14 degrees this weekend forcast. About 15 inches of snow on the ground.

I've been riding all week in 20 degree weather, until today when we got snow! :(

A couple of mates and I got a 350km ride in today, 25 degrees C today, bloody great fun. You can keep the winter colds and snow right where they are and I'll keep the summer riding weather all year long.

Bean was out of town when the rains came flew back to Brisbane, then couldn't get home to the North had to spend 4 days in Bris , was good to get home . Home town went under main street and houses & business district, my house was OK. Tried to push the mower around 4 days after the rain stopped but the old Briggs and Stratton needed a recovery vehicle to get her out . still very wet. I think we had about 50 inches of rain in just over a month in our area. Now all the roads have fallen apart will take years to repair them

Blue is black ice something you can see and stop in time or is it all to late when you hit it. sounds like scary shit!!

Black Ice is when you have a surface of liquid...usually thick frost,OR cage exhausts hitting the pavement...then quick feezing.The air bubbles don't get trapped in it,freezes too quickly(from wind temps or something quick like that).Freezes and remains the same color as the pavement it's on cause the Ice is crystal clear.Can be thin or thick.It will appear just like the road surface so ya can't generally notice it till,on a bike anyway,yer done!Very dangerous.I think sometimes when I'm riding and I know there's been reports of black ice in certain areas,that as I pass through em,I can notice the ice on the road...but most people say they can't see it.It will reflect light...so a shiny lookin area in the road could easily be ice...though I've never stopped to check and see.I don't ride my bike if the "road condition" map is showing purple on any roads where I might be going.Just too iffy.It can be there on a morning ride,and be gone at noon,and back again by 3:00.Bad stuff.Even if the Sun is out.

Will stay clear of the Black ice roads then, if its shinny in appearence with eye sight like mine I would think someone's given me a shinny new road to ride on lets go. whooops

Weee!Well...that's an excellent thought...HOWEVER...apparently you don't always see a shiny surface.That's why it's so dangerous.Now I gotta find out for meself....next time I go out and if I cross a place where I think there's black ice,I'll take a minute and stop to see if it really is.I thought sure it could be seen reflecting the light,but maybe not?Most of the reports of black ice come from cage drivers anyway...motorcyclists would just be too smart to go out riding IF it might be around!(?)A car driver most likely wouldn't even recognize regular ice,let alone that stuff!

Around here on wet days the old bitumen gets kind of flattened out and you get shinny spots and patches which are very slippery so I guess if it was cold enough to freeze then that would be the likely spot for black ice possibly . Thanks Blue

I thought I was a winter time rider. I only ride when it is 40 degrees or warmer. I'm in Richmond, VA.

I have been riding to work for the last three days, but after yesterday (about 25 @ 6am) I need some new gloves
But the ride home has been gorgeous.
