Moab mile
05/18/14 9:51 AM

I did a search on standing mile race tracks and found one in Moab California. I missed this year, but my goal is to go next year. Here is a list of tires they will exept. Which one looks good to you.
MOTORCYCLE TIRES: MKM also allows certain DOT-legal motorcycle racing tires to qualify for Unlimited speeds instead of the usual limit based on their sidewall rating. This also applies to the LSM class. The following tires are in this category:
Dunlop SPORTMAX D211 GP-A, D209 GP-A Metzeler Racetec Interact K series Michelin POWER CUP, POWER ONE COMP Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP, SC Continental RACE ATTACK COMP Bridgestone Battlax R10, BT003 Pro; plus BT003RS in (W) rated ONLY...
Let me know Thanks

I think mile I think weight: I do not think money. My money goes to the lightest tire no matter who is lighter at the front or rear, that tire is the lightest and that mismatch overrides something as short as a mile being in an upright position. I'd have a backup front tire to match the rear just in case practice shows a wobble/poor steering/etc.

If my whatever that ratio is, I'd take that year to get in shape so my height to weight would be another factor in the weight dept. The less food intake the more tire($) input.

If Y is the highest mph rated, that's the tire of choice:

Hub u nailed it on the weight thing. I'm already on a diet. That body mass chart was krazy.... I'm 213 lbs. Shooting for 185 lbs. And a full titanium exaust. Between those two things its around a 60 lb. loss.

JO, And if the rulebook did not mention ti nuts and bolts, I'd swap out as many bits of hardware and lighten that load.

After looking at a bunch of tires. I cant find A (y) rated tire. I read the rules again and found that my tire should be fine. It has the ZR on the sidewall (z or zr 149+ mph)but its actualy a W rated tire (168mph). Who makes a (y) rated tire?

Racing tires fall into that category if I were to make a guess. Call one of the manu's, tell them what you are doing and if they can send you a fresh pair come race weekend.
