Front end wiggle
09/09/09 2:53 PM

Okay,I completed my "test" of the infamous front end wiggle. In 6,250 miles,my frontend did not wiggle once.Just replaced the front tire(with another Diablo Stada)On every previous(except this last one)tire, performing the "warm up your tires"weave while driving on almost every ride(during the ride as well),the frontend developed a mild wiggle at 40,50 mph "hands off" coasting. This last tire-(6,250 miles)no "warm up" weaving at all-not once.Ridden the same as always through those miles. NO WIGGLE-None.Just thought I'd let ya'll know about that.

Sounds like uneven tire ware on the sides of your tires. It doesn't seem plausible at first, that your front tire could ware unevenly from weaving if you did that before and during every single ride. Upon further consideration, however, you can't weave 100 times per complete revolution of the tire thus creating a very uniform ware pattern. That would be a major tank slapper, not a weave. It would be more like 1 weave for every 2-6 tire revolutions (depending on how fast you were moving down the road). Under those circumstances, I can see how a high spot could develop on the sides of your tire tread - maybe?? I have no shake that i know of and I only weave once in a while for the fun of it.

That's some pretty strong evidence, blue. I also have not weaved since changing tires, and the front is not wiggling at all, as it did with the last set. -bg
