2011 Foreman's
03/24/14 5:40 PM

So, I was looking for a way to set off my 2011 zx14 a little. I decided to have a buddy of mine paint/clear the fins on my foreman grills black......Just wanted to get some thoughts. The pic probably doesn't do it justice, but, it's amazing how such a small change makes such a difference.......

Looks GREAT! I love painted fins. Woulda done mine this winter but had a neighbor complain about the paint smell coming up through the ventilation.. Can't wait until I am able to ditch this apartment dwelling lifestyle. Fine for retired folks but sucks if you want to try to have a life. At least in this part of the country.

Thanks! I agree about the painted fins. I got the idea last year when I saw Danno's bike in person. Of everything he did to the bike, I thought that set the bike off the most......

I agree that's why I painted my 2010 in red although it's a bit hard to see in this photo it should give you a good idea on what it looks like

Looks good, Justin. Coming back to Eureka Springs in May? It'd be great to see you again.

Johnnypoc, that's a great looking bike. I love how the painted foremans and polished rims set off the bike.....very nice

Danno - Not sure if I am going to make it, but, I will certainly try. If I do, it will be a last minute decision.

Busakiller - Totally worth it if you do. I really like the 2011 green/black scheme, but, it was just missing something. That's what it was missing. When the sun hits the green and the green really pops, the painted fins really blend the black and green together nicely......

I want do this to my 2006 thunder blue, make the grills blue. maybe clearcoat the rest. It has the really black grills as opposed to the matte looking ones in the later years.

where do I start on a DIY budget?

Get a harbor freight paint gun, they work better than they look and then get the paint code and some 2K clear in a can for about 20.00 bucks, prep and paint let dry. Napa or a good auto paint store will have the 2k in a can or you can just get it off the internet. The paint code the dealer may be able to help you with, and it might be able to be bought in a can also as you won't need much to paint the foremans, just use light overlapping coats and let stand 15 no more than 30 minutes in between coats.
