Blaze bag questions
12/10/13 7:46 AM

Ok , so I contacted Twisted Throttle about a set of Blaze saddlebags for my 06 ZX14 and was told they don't make them. So, Coxyboy told me to contact SW Motech directly which I did. Martin Prochasku of SW Motech tells me they don't make a set for the ZX14! Which is a surprise since Coxyboy bought a set and even has the part number!!! My question to Coxyboy and anyone else, Coxy, what year is your bike? And do you see any reason the bags would not fit a first gen ZX14?
Thanks for any help, I think we need to "edumacate" the folks at TT and SW Motech.
Oh, and I did mention to the guy at TT that they make a set for the 1098 and I am pretty sure there are more people touring on a ZX 14 than on one of those things!

Ok, after investigating SW Motech's site I was able to determine they make a Blaze system for the "ZZR14". But it only lists fitment from 2011 on. Can anyone tell me if there are any substantial differences in the subframe between the 2006 and the 2011? Come on people, inquiring minds need to know.

Both the same....it's the rear side fairings that cause the fitment issue. Not the subframe. That's the same on all models.

Well that sounds promising. Because I think that the most important part of the bag system is the support bars so if they work on the 06 subframe I should be able to make them work.
I guess we'll see.

My bike is 2012 model, I don't think there is much difference, you should be able to purchase the Blaze panniers and fit on your 2006 model. The mounting brackets should fit the rear pegs and exhaust clearance should be an issue as 2012 model has bigger OEM pipes.
