This sounds like the real deal, the U.S. version will get a 750 rpm redline reduction in order to pass EPA noise regulations.

May not be as bad as we had imagined as most of those last rpms are for over rev on the track and have little to do with peak HP. They're saying maybe a loss of 10 ponies compared to the Euro version so that should still be good for about 170 HP at the wheel.

The new US bike will still rev up to 13,750 instead of 14,500. It’s hard to belive Kaw would make this bike achieve max hp at its max rev limit of 14500.Even in the full power Euro bike I can see the power dropping off around 13500. So it conceivable that the US bike is going to make Hp all the way to the 13500 rpm limiter and just stop which would be odd. The article states Kaw said the computer software is the only difference between the US models to me that means the firmware is different. This pretty much rules out the pipe theory in order to get the power of the Euro bike and makes a jumper type mod or TRE like device a lot more likely as the fix. So maybe 180 or so for the Euro bike which would put it right next to the BMW only lighter. Now all they need to do is knock 2k off the retail price after all its still a Jap bike

Now all they need to do is knock 2k off the retail price after all its still a Jap bike

Ironic that the 2011 BMW will get New software.


EPA noise regulations.

Why not just give us a plug for the exhaust.

the 750 rpm shy of redline would cause the bike to drop to far back into midrange for the next gear .. which would cause it to lug instead of staying in its powerband .. which on a dragstrip would be the same as short shifting and getting beat ..
