New (older model) purchase

I found a 2008, brand new, on the showroom. Should there be any concern about a bike sitting that long? Seals, gaskets, hoses, battery, etc.... I think not, but I'm not sure. It's such a smoking deal, I just want to feel good about the purchase. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Well, I have an '08 FJR in my garage and all the items you mentioned are in good shape. Of course, they are three years older than new, thus your concern, but in good shape nonetheless.

I would say, make sure you wear out the tires quickly so there are no worries about tire rot.
I haven't looked, but probably the owners manual calls for changing the brake/clutch fluid and the coolant at two years. But these fluids have zero heat cycles, so I would consider changing then sooner than the manual calls for but not right now, maybe a year after you buy it.

I can't think of other consumables that would require changing at a two year time frame.

Leftover 2008? I thought I purchased the last one in October. lol

My only concern was the 3 year old dino oil in the crankcase. Didn't want the bike started with that sh*t in there. If it bothers you, like it did me, tell the dealership not to start the bike. Otherwise they will as part of the pre-delivery inspection.

Oh also 3 year old tires = bad news! They may be new, but the rubber will have hardened... I wouldn't push it too hard before replacing 'em.

Don't worry about the battery. Shouldn't have even ever been installed yet... that's part of the PDI.

Yeah just like DogoZX said. Otherwise what's the price difference from a new one unless you love the color? That Midnight Sapphire Blue always gets me I love that color!!!

Grab it. Fastest color ever made. I wouldn't worry about anything being delapidated too much with the bike sitting in storage basically. I haven't NEEDED to replace anything but oil, filters and tires and I've been riding the bike since 08. All the rubber parts seem to be in good condition. Just don't put too much faith those tires and dump the oil if it ever had any put in it. The battery prolly never got chemicals activated so I believe that makes it as good as new.
