Let's 'single' the exhaust!

I believe the overall motorcycle system is at least partially designed to make the bike legal to sell, not to make it the best running sport bike they can.
This motorcycle screams for modification.
My wants are endless, my resources are finite.
So, as I was sitting alone in the quiet, an idea came to me.

Why don't I remove the muffler and mid-pipe from the left side and cap off the left branch?

Would that give me a four into one exhaust system?

It would certainly give me better access to the chain maintenance duty. The bike would be marginally lighter.

What damage might that do?

Any observations? Hit me, I can take it.

Why don't I remove the muffler and mid-pipe from the left side and cap off the left branch? Why not!

Would that give me a four into one exhaust system? Yes

It would certainly give me better access to the chain maintenance duty. The bike would be marginally lighter. Yes, that it would

What damage might that do? None WOT so ever.

Now ear is where you are going to sit here and take it. Ask yourself if installing an aftermarket 4-in-1 damages all those bikes that, well, have aftermarket pipes? Are they yelling "Damage" or "WOWOT A Difference!"

Blow through a straw. Did that pipe take all that flow? You on the inhale is another cylinder about to exhale, you think the air can escape the same exit speed out one pipe it needs 2 mufflers?

Take a galvanize pipe type threaded end cap. You then hose clamp the end cap to the end of the header split and she works for me, because I've been there and done that.

You may hose down the power a little, you close off an end that air would have escaped out of one the double down, triple nickel runs. Low speed, she should grunt along fine. I gutted mine to compensate for the closed off side.

I gutted mine to compensate for the closed off side.

If I recall correctly, it seemed there was more exhaust flow from the rear brake side of the stockers. I had an aftermarket single on for some time but when I still had the stockers I think I noticed more steam from that side. I think that lefty may be doing most of the flow anyway. If you have the time, I'd gut the lefty to make sure you're not obstructing flow.

Thanks Hub and Rook,

for confirming this mod is possible. I'll be happy to report back after I give it a try.
