Easiest way to turn off headlights and taillights?
08/24/10 1:58 PM

What would be the easiest way to turn off the headlights and taillights for a trackday? Are there a fusees that can be pulled, or do I need to remove plastics and dig around and unplug things near the bulbs? Thanks. -bg

Okay BG...it looks like you can maybe do this....disconnect the relay at the rear subframe...manual...pg16-64(for turn signals). If that doesn't work,it looks like the 10 amp fuse(s) in the rear tail section(under the seat there)Your license plug is right under there as well...just follow it up from under the fender...you'll see it.(pg16-115,116.)The headlight fuses are also there(I think)...but maybe easiest to disconnect the relays at the front just behind the ram duct covers on either side.pg16-60.Reach DOWN into the midfairing pocket(inside the cockpit)and reach in there and snag those lamp connectors and unplug...no removal of fuses there needed. You could design a little hook of sorts out of a coathanger if ya can't get yer ham fists in there! If ya can't get em that way,you can remove the inside midfairing panel and reach em easy through there.I'm installing some Clear Alternative signal lens(Blue natch)tonight,so I'll be doing this deal as well! Got the rear lenses in...they do look good with my color.Talk about WTF?The rear has a phillips screw you remove...that's it.Switch out...easy peasy. The FRONT?...gotta remove stuff of course.(What were they thinkin?!)A two minute job turns UGLY!!!!!

Hi Willi!Hope yer gettin some sweet rides in..great weather!

or just pull the fuses for the head lights and tail lights under the seat.

Installed my blue lenses last night. Not quite as bad as I thought it might be...though it still was a drag to have to pull that stuff out.ONLY removed the inner midfairing panels, and upper inner fairing. Not too bad.Course the back was WAY harder....one phillips each side .You know...IF I had JUST LOOKED closer at the rear lenses...my dumb azz woulda seen those phillips...as it was...well,you guessed it...I removed the rear right fairing before I realized(okay,BOTH actually)...WTF is this...Geez...duh,it's a lens screw .You'd think Kawi woulda made the front a WHOLE LOT EASIER with somethin like the rear deal...sheesh.
