It got up to 50 this afternoon so I decided to ride the bike to town and throw a little gas in. Made it two miles from home and ran out. Guess I shouldn't have been going WOT the whole time, I might have been able to make it the whole 15 miles to town instead of only two miles.....dumbass....

Just awesome man! I am jealous! I want to hear all about the difference you feel compared to stock losing that weight! Give us ur riding impressions AND pics!

...the handling is much crisper now...along with a more planted feel....definitely feels like a lighter bike....highly recommend this mod. These are the 6" wide BST's...they make a thicker model...an 'R' I think it's called.6 1.25" width in the rear...heavier....more spendy.Add a steering damper on there...really transforms the front end feel/ease of carving. Also allows a greater leanability without having to get totally off the seat.Less body input I would say.To get the same results.Cornering feels a lot more solid.Hard to explain without feeling it compared to stock....well worth it though;)
I found I wasn't muscling the chassis near as much as before...really not at all.She drops in and holds and stays where ya put her very nicely.Allows me to focus on the apex and power inputs a lot easier.

Hey Green,
just wondering if you run a 55 profile on the rear or not?
I would love to add BST's but not gonna be that "spendy"; my poor skills are proll'y not gonna be able to take a big advantage on those wheels, I'm thinking.
The 55 profile made a BIG difference for me and I am very pleased with that change. Curious if you have changed to a 55 rear and if, therefore, the BST's made a large difference on top of that due to the rotating mass/momentum loss in the running gear?
Thanks,
PB

Actually...I'm running a 50 right now...but normally I run a 55.Be installing a 55 next go round."skills" has nothing to do with the performance aspect of the wheels. But you would really enjoy the way your bike feels after getting some lightweight wheels...be it BST's or some other brand. No question about it.I'm excited to get a 55 on there just to see.I know having a 55 does make a good difference in turn in and such.Add the wheels...gonna be fun seeing how she does.
You know,it's not 'just' about carving and all....the overall feel of the bike is easier to work with.Transitioning is much less 'physical' now.She goes in much easier...and just riding...much easier to feel relaxed.

Oh yes, I know what you are saying. I am just saying that taking full advantage of the maneuverability that is possible to effect with the lighter mass and lower rotational inertia in your great wheels may be above my ability to invoke. The reader still has to have the reflexes, presence of mind and the learned muscle sequential application to command the performance. And yes, most of the fun is in learning to do that; but as Dirty Harry once said, "A man's got to know his limitations". Or as body builders say, "If you want to be a champion, choose your parents wisely!" Heh,heh.
I will look fwd to hearing how you report your riding impressions with both the BST's and the 55 on the rear. That's gonna be one of those cases where, "it just don't get any better than that!" OR at least that's my guess.
Enjoy! We stock riders are Green with envy!

Woohaa!...There are so many different ways that 'lighter wheels' enhance a ride...no matter what bike they're on...that trying to pigeonhole their riding performance is very very hard.I'm just a rider...nothing outstanding or pro-ish about me at all.I won't probably ever take the bike anywhere near it's performance limits ever....no way....but I would like to see an actual pro take her for some laps and such...now that'd be very cool.Cause I have NO idea what she's really capable of...a lot more than I know how to wring outta her;)I'd probably wreck on a closed course trying to play racer.I'm lucky to have made it this far on the 14's.
