I guess I had to go out and look at what I'm riding on. I came off of 021's, am back on 021's as, 'These were the last ones, yeah? No!' Nobody wanted the old profile. They were on sale. I snagged those up and are good enough to be called the, JCCC's.
Heavy, stone sticky, are the 21's. No way are they better feeling than the OEM 016's. The lightweight tire that came on the new 14, well, no doubt I had that 2010 loaner pretty much spent at 2,000 hard miles on the originals. When I felt those on the way home? Big difference!
Right away, you can flick the bike a lot quicker with the lites. Doubt you can do that with the 21/23's. Soon as I rolled the bike off the rack, I could feel the new tires right away.
Balance takes a tiny bit more weight to balance, but both tires needed pretty much the same weight if not less this time around on the front. She is nothing butt smooth and wrinkly.
I can feel even when they are brand new, that faint wear syndrome so early on. In other words, the cupping is inevitable and when I felt that, it was as short a time as a 16 would wear out under 2,000 miles, the 21 may have said it at 4, close to 5k? Either way, it is seat of the pants how short in mileage the tires sign off.
The stones you hit on the road with a heavier tire; helps plant the tire and sends the rock flying. Use a 16, the front end skids off the rock-is not going anywhere, but send the front end like a rock dancing over a pond. That part you might say is a plus for a heavy tire? I kind of miss the action apparently.
Are the 21's confidence inspiring? JCC, or Japanese Cop Cone Cornering inspiring? Yes, I would say so. Too bad that snake photo was not shot a second later. I think he missed the 'money shot' as I sucked in some guy to follow my line. I took a high line and then you have to crank hard over to the right or you are not setup for the left at the top.
