ZX14 in a KZ drag bike
04/22/25 8:42 AM

Hello all,
Yes I am new and I did use the search function. I want to use the ZX14 engine in my KZ dragbike. I know there will be extensive cradle mods to get it to fit but my main concern is how it will hold up with the slider, air shifts and slick. I have heard rumors of transmission issues when it isn't in the factory chassis. I have no first hand information to confirm or deny this. The old KZ stuff is getting harder to find and I think it's time to change platforms. If anyone has made this swap happen I would love to pick your brain.

Thanks,
Jeff

My guess is more a sprocket change from stock, Then again, many 14s wound up in 4-wheel rigs and don't hear about trans problems, Doubt the accessories will hinder shifting.

Engines do knot know what the output shaft is hooked up, to is my way of thinking.

Thanks Hub,
I just want to stay Kawasaki and stay reliable. I'm not going to convert to a Hayabusa because that's what everyone is doing. I have a lot of experience with the KZ platform. I guess it's time for a new challenge.

Jeff
