I did not ride much last year (2024). I think I only rode it 600mis. I never took a trip in my car either. I decided to help 2 widow ladies with their yards. So, I was mowing, trimming, spraying weeds, cutting limbs, raking leaves and took care of their cars' maintenance, too. I figured I saved them about $3000. I bought a set of tires for 1 widow's car.
I dropped those widow ladies this year; one inherited some money and now can afford to pay for mowers.
I'm aging out. All my injures throughout my life have resurfaced at the same time. My left knee surgery removed some of my meniscus cartilage in 2006. Walking on the roof is painful.
I put new tires on my Bike and that makes a big difference. I thought was getting too old to ride. My confidence in the corners was bad.
13,376 miles on RS III front tire.
It is more humid in Arkansas than Colorado and I will never get used to it. It is easier to take my Mustang.
This year, I am taking care of my property and house.
I just finished fixing a water leak on the peak of my roof before 6 inches of rain this weekend. I thought I was going to die up there of heat exhaustion. I lost 6 lbs through sweating and not eating. I have added the weight back-rats.
I pried off a ridge peak vent-4 feet long and found a broken board which made a low spot, so, any driven rain could get under it and drip into my attic.
This roof is an add-on family room. I removed the ridge vent. My original roof is underneath.
I have 24 feet of ridge peak venting to check, but that will have to wait until this fall when it is cooler.
I'm a Farm Boy from Kansas and I like to do my own work. Why hire someone, they will not do a good as job as me.
Though, I know the day is coming when I will have to hire someone to re-roof my house.
Since I left Colorado in April 2017, I have put 17,852mi on my Bike, 22,130mi on my F150, and 38,926mi on my Car (I got the car in 2019). That is 78,908 miles in 8 years of retirement.
Somedays I feel young and foolish. Then working on the roof puts me in my place and I have to rest for 2 days.
My Dad died at 63 and my Mother at 83. I'm 74. I never had children.
I hope Elon Musk can make a $25,000 Robot that can pick me off the floor and clean my house.
