real time monitoring ignition timing?
06/20/11 4:33 AM

I can monitor AFR and use that info to decide if I need to lean off or richen up by using the wideband commander with the PCIII. By hooking up the LCD100 I can watch this and log the AFR while I ride for later study. great.

Is there a way I can monitor (and even log) the real time ignition advance so I can be better informed when messing with my ignition module? I'm getting some real nice feedback from advancing the ignition for low throttle and low rpm use (my day-2-day commute) and I'd like to know what's working and what's not.

The bikes already been dynoed and its real nice with WOT, but crap for street use, cause they can't/don't tune it there.

Any suggestions?

I run my advance like a Down hill ski slope. You can try the same approach and see what you think. When you add your advance you can hear the bikes change in sound and Idle RPM increase. Reset throttle points and try. You will see that your bike also runs cooler. Use Good Gas with full advance. I hope this helps. Enjoy.

So are you looking for an ignition datalogging device? Or just a display so you can observe the cells the bike is in while riding?

Preferably both. data logging would need to include RPM and TPS so I can make the adjustments in the PC.

Ideally, there is something I can hook into the PC3 LCD. I'm thinking of getting the WB2 and LCD so I can log the AFR. If I could also log the ignition advance then I would have the info I want in one place. That would help

Thanks all

No, there is no way of logging the timing of your ignition.

ahh crap!

I've been messing with ignition advance for a little while and stumbled on a sweet spot at 2500 rpm - cruising throttle (1%) Really smooth, runs cool, light on fuel. I'd just like to know what settings I got right so I can spread the goodness throughout the range

Thanks
