Is this dude full of sh!t?

07 ZX14 Rapidbike Ign/fuel controller, micron full exhaust, BMC race filter, and a real tune... 198RWHP and 118RWTQ w/o nitrous.

I just have to check this out. Some guy posted this on FB. I don't believe it. The stock ZX-14 engine makes about 200 hp so there is no way he can be getting 198 to his wheel with just a pipe and filter, right?

I think some people just like to talk and stir up sh$t. He must be running jet fuel in that bike.

I've searched for crankshaft hp on the ZX-14 but there is very little info that turned up. I could almost swear i remember right around 200 hp measured at the crank from some research I did last year. 168 - 175 rwhp for a stock bike. I don't see figures of 190 rwhp without boost.

I remember it the same way Rook. 200 at the crank and 175 at the wheel.

Any bike can dyno high or low depending on the dyno. I'm sure if i were to put my bike on the same dyno it would make about 215 whp.

The 08/09s (from what i've seen) ARE making more power then the 06/07s.. But not that much more.

Mine made 161 stock LOL

^^Yeah but if you could see how this guy was bragging alongside a couple newbies making them feel like they are riding a piece a crap because they posted realistic numbers for their 14s. I have to go back there and roast that guy a little bit. Already posted the "dyno variation" idea.

I remember reading the 08's were down on RWP to the 07's but there power delivery was better suited for drag racing.

Mine made 194 with a thin gasket, cam gears, head work, brocks pipe, NO air filter, and a tune. So... I'm skeptical LOL

I see a couple numbers reported close to 200rwhp. One was by Brock. I didn't think this was possible on a stock engine because it makes 200hp at the crank. How would you get nearly 100% of the power to the wheel? Then it dawned on me that maybe with a really great tune and mods, the hp at the crank would be over 200 in which case, 190s at the wheel sounds plausible. So I didn't roast the guy. however, I doubt he's making 198 with a tune, pipe and race filter.

???maybe?

Apparently the bike had only basic mods and it was making 200 hp and did 200mph.

“Street Megaphone” exhaust system, a custom map for the aftermarket fuel injection box, a re-calibrated speedometer, ceramic wheel bearings and some drag racing suspension tie-down straps.

So it's possible.

Brock's bike had much more then that at the time. One notable being "0" weight race oil. Ceramic bearings are a big gain, race fuel is big.. There is more i just can't remember. It was by far, not a stock bike.

Maybe he has Muzzy's stroker kit installed in it. New crank, new rods, new pistons, a whole lot of new horsepower, and reliable, too.

He certainly is full of shit. In SA, RWHP no more than 160 stock. Busa is 168 stock. This on a Dynojet at one of the top tuners, so no bullshit there. As I said previously, mine "194 rwhp" but I seriously doubt it.
Not the way it goes against a stock one.

Ya, Brock's drag bikes are seriously modified, even the ones that wear tags. Wouldn't surprise me if they have more in them in engine and transmission/clutch modifications than I paid for my 08.

But thats racing.

Given a healthy budget (which I don't have) I could turn mine into 245 rwhp and it would still be street legal, and about 100 pounds lighter to boot. Its 90% money and 10% know-how.

I've had mine dynoed on a Dynojet at sea level and with DNA Air Filter, 'flies out, PCIII and everything else stock, the reading was 184 at the rear. It could have been a "happy dyno", that I don't know but I haven't heard anything untoward. It seemed a bit high but it's all I have to go on.

The guy who did it reckoned that if I put the Muzzy M10 on, he'd have another go and we'd see closer to 200RWHP. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not but I have seen situations in cars where some "rogue" builds just seem to have heaps more then the build either side of it. It may be a case of all components and cam timing and so forth all coming together in the one vehicle? Who knows?

You will not gain 16 hp from any exhaust (except a turbo) on the zx14.

^^That's not what the pipe manufacturers tell us. Most claim a full system, filter and tune will make +25 hp.

I'm not expecting 16hp just from changing the exhaust and I may not even go ahead and try as the M10 is just so damn noisy that I don't know if I can live with it for a daily ride machine. If I was to retire it (the 14) from daily use and use it simply for drag fun, I'd probably do lots of other stuff too, so I guess it's a moot point. From stock, if I was to just change the filter and swap to a M10 with a PCIII, 25 extra should be no problem but a simple exhaust switch may be pushing it. Sooo, the M10 just sits there looking useless but it is a conversation piece albeit an expensive one.

From what I understand, the only way to compare machine to machine is to have both dynoed on the same dyno within a few minutes of each other to keep atmos conditions the same. Otherwise, the comparos are subject to too much variation to be of any use. Was the guy FOS? I wouldn't have a clue.
