Please post if you heard the 08s and up had a new frame.
I've heard there is a different casting process on the '08 and up frames.
The frame issue on the '06 and '07 was not a big deal in any case, very few had cracks and it takes less than 30 minutes for a competent dealer to check it.
I've ridden them back to back and an '06/'07 with flies out and a good map has more steam than a stock '08 down low but the '08 is definitely stronger down low than the '06/'07 if you compare stock for stock. On top end, '06/'07s tend to put out a few more HP on the dyno, chalk this up to rich stock mapping on the '08s to keep the catalysts cool.
Removing flies on an '08 doesn't do much for the low end as the stock fly opening rate is much more agresssive than on the older bikes.
The '06/'07 respond well to just slipons, the catalysts were in the end canisters and the headers are very good. You'll get almost as much power on an '06/'07 with a slipon as you would with a full system with better low end.
The '08s have the catalysts in the mid pipe so slipons don't add as much. Better to go with a full system on the '08.
